Diesel heater 5kw will it fit..

yep i have a 5kw installed on mine in the oem locations with the ebay brackets.
So it mounts ok with an ebay bracket, good to know, thanks for the heads, but in regards to all the other posts i am starting to think 5kw, i might of got the wrong one and should of gone with the 2kw..
I guess my initial thoughts was to run it at low speed, was thinking a 2kw would require me to run the heater at full whack.
Would the consensus be to get a refund and replace with a 2kw/3kw heater?

Thanks

Trust me 2kw will be ample.

Like I said earlier my Wallas is at 900w (minimum setting) on a fully insulated van down to minus 12 outside with cab windows cracked open.
There is very little air volume inside a fully converted and loaded Transporter, probably less than a very small bathroom!
A single person also emits approx 100W of heat energy at rest.

Thanks guys, return initiated. Just gonna throw out another question, the price difference between an ebay diesel heater and a conversion shop heater is 100 - 1000 in comparison. Is there any major difference between the units. If i grab an ebay 2kw, will it be fine? cheers
edit: also are there any brands i should stay away from?

No personal experience of the eBay specials, we have a Webasto. BUT a friend of mine has one of the ebay jobbies with the separate fuel tank. The fuel pump failed on its first outing & he says the van smells of diesel.
Caveat Emptor

Cheap combustion device under / in your expensive van…….what could possibly go wrong?!

The mechanicals of the heaters are pretty much the same. If there's a diesel smell in the van there is something wrong with his set up (might have cool air inlet outside the van which is pulling in exhaust gases, a CO meter would tell him if there's exhaust gases getting into the warm air stream)
The cheap ones just need setting up correctly and with a little thought put into how you use them they will work just as well as the expensive one's (which also break down and soot up, but are more expensive to replace)
I can change my £90 heater out 10 times and still not reach the price of one of the expensive ones, yet it's still running well after 3 years in the van.
Of course there are people on here who sell and maintain the expensive ones so they are always going to say the chinese one's are crap, just saying.

You are far better running a 2Kw full rather than a 5Kw on low all the time. Continuous low running will lead to premature coking.

Take a look here 2kW or 4kW heater? The heaters with low usage at high output had far more coking than the others.

So why did you buy a T6 instead of a Shenchi then?o_O:D

Because I found an SV Kombi conversion with less than 5K on the clock for £25K
I spend my money wisely.

I certainly would not mount a 5Kw on one of those - they flex too much and will work harden and fracture. I would not recommend them for a 2Kw either.
The oem offering is rubber mounted and is very substantial.
The 6 hole version is 3mm steel and the 2 hole 2.75mm. The 2 hole version has a built-in failure point where the metal fatigue develops.

Hi, just been looking at heaters again, do you have the part numbers for the OEM one, or where to get one of the more substantial brackets on the left of pic please?

Thanks

[To be honest I am a but surprised you say the ones suppled with Eber/Webasto et al fail, the must supply a lot of these and I am don't remember reading about a failure. (This is not meant to say you are incorrect just I haven't come across it).]

The 3.5/3.9/4/5.5.5Kw is quite a bit heavier than a 2Kw and is a lot of weight to wave about on those 2 hole brackets.
Part nos for oem ( 3 parts):

Quick look on ebay gives this for the other substantial mount: Webasto VW T6 External Heater mount plate bracket 1321080A | eBay

1321080A Part Number: 9014167A

List price is £70 so that one is a bargain.
Thank you. Much appreciated.
So the ‘flimsy bracket’ is ok for the 2kW heaters?
