Diesel Heating

Can I search the hive mind for diesel heater info.
Can I ask for Recommendations on heaters, I'd like one with an app to control it remotely & cost is certainly an issue, I have limited funds. Also positioning, mounting inside or out, fueling from an internal tank or tapping into the main fuel line?
All suggestions from experienced Folk will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.

Love my Webasto Airtop 2000STC with a Multricontrol, (works like a home thermostat). I'll get round to adding a remote hopefully this year. It sips fuel gently from the main tank.
Situated behind front N/S wheel. Took a right dunking in the potholes in Skye last season, didn't miss a beat. Highly recommended.

Webasto, outside, fuel line.

Not necessarily the cheapest to buy, but that's the difference between cost and value.
Thanks for the suggestion & I completely agree with the quality principle. Unfortunately my budget will not allow for it.
I'll be looking at the "best bang for the buck" territory.

It's way past my budget sadly. It's going to have to be the "best bang for the buck" territory sadly. Maybe in the future I will be able to swap it out for the Webasto.

Cheap and cheerful here!
£100 heater with keyfob remote using a t-piece and fitted myself and has been working fine for the last 3 years.
Had it running for 12 hours overnight on tickover without it cutting out.
Some have had issues with the heater running out of fuel due to the non return valve on the main tank when fitted with a t-peice.
Maybe I'm lucky? I feel lucky sat all toasty and warm.

Cant say enough about Wallas Products, Products - Heating and Cooking Solutions - Wallas.

I found my double hotplate with blower lid completely by accident many years ago sometime i the 1990's. I had seen a used product at a Boat Chandlers in Poole Dorset that looked like a record player with a double deck. I was intrigued. On further examination it was revealed as a hob with a thermostatic lid. I bought it and fitted it to my LR 101 FC Radio Body. It would prove to be one of the best purchases that we ever made. It used minimal fuel and a miniscule amp-age to run. It would run for hours and hours in the winter months when camping out in extreme weather, want a meal or a cupper just lift the lid, cook or boil what ever. Cold outside just pull down the lid and a thermostatic switch turns on a fan in the lid that directs hot air forward. 2 temperature levels kept a van like vehicle the size approximately of a T6 completely warm in very harsh weather as long as the fuel tank has fuel. Mine was a marine product meant for boats but was ideal in a rugged 4 wheel Drive Vehicle. Lasts for years and years. Mine was run on Paraffin but most run on diesel. Very easy to install surface mount all that is required being 12Volt supply and a flue. Mine exited on the roof but many can exit through the side or even underneath I understand. They have quite a few models, some very stylish flush mount. Even buy ovens or oven with hotplate and therm o top lid. They do other stuff also diesel heaters and so on. Certainly worth a look and no, I have no connection at. all Boat heaters and stoves, cottage heaters and water heaters - Front page - Wallas

Veevor 2kw for me. £130 + a few bits and bobs. Fitted under drivers step, fed from nipple on top of fuel tank. I’ve had it in for two years so far, and it was very good today in the lakes where it was -5 outside.

Thanks for that. Fitted outside & underneath the the drivers side step?
(I have No idea what I'm doing) Nipple on top of tank, does the tank need to be removed? Can this be done on a driveway drinfinity?

See some pictures on my build thread. Also have a look at the various threads on the forum search - they taught me everything I needed to know.

I rented a lift to do my current van, but the previous one I did outside on the road on ramps. Entirely possible, just less comfortable.

The newer T6.1 has a nipple on top of the fuel pump, so you only lower the tank a bit, and don’t have to take the pump out. On older models, and my T5, I needed to run the tank low, and then drop it completely.

Me too. No idea of the make - generic Chinese heater. Starts, stops, and just works.
I used it for ths first time in ages to defrost the van from it's igloo.
The van was warmer than the house.

I also fitted a Chinese diesel heater with remote control £87 2 years ago and still running strong, I fitted mine underneath our van on a stainless steel base and the nipple on top of the tank is T6.1 models only. I bought extra ducting and T piece and fitted 2 hot air vents I also bought insulation to wrap around the heater ducting and exhaust wrap to protect the heat from plastic under trays The total cost of my installation was £200.
