Do I need to vent an AGM battery under drivers seat?

Afternoon all, first post!

Sorry if it's been answered somewhere, but I cannot find a straight answer or video anywhere.

I plan on installing an AGM battery under my driver's seat (T6 Caravelle), does it need to be vented?

Every AGM battery I've seen so far claims to be fully sealed, and none have a vent pipe attachment.

How could I go about venting this battery under the driver's seat if there is nowhere to attach a pipe?

Thanks!

Not sure if it helps, but the factory AGM leisure battery mounted under the driver/passenger seat is vented to the outside.

Have you considered going LiFePO4 instead of fitting an AGM battery?

Thanks for that. It may come down to cost as it's not going to get a huge amount of use.

Mine isn’t vented to the outside. I considered it after we bought the van and I noticed the battery wasn’t vented externally but thing is the original converter obviously didn’t feel it was necessary, it’s passed habitation checks and I spent many years driving original VW Beetles where the battery was under the rear seat… unvented to the outside (and a blooming fire risk when the seat springs of the rear bench shorted it due to a larger girl sitting in the back!) so I haven’t mustered enough concern to run out and drill a hole through the floor yet.

If it’s underneath the driver or passenger seat there is a large grommet under thenflooring that the vent pipe can be passed through. If it’s not vented to outside then any gas generated whilst charging will stay in the van, if the battery starts boils over then acid will just leak into your interior. PS the gas is hydrogen so extremely flammable /explosive

Under £200 for a 100ah lithium battery. There is no reason to put an AGM batter in with these prices. Will save you money in performance and longevity pretty quickly.

Thanks for the links, definitely affordable and a better option. Just one more question if you don't mind, on the link it recommends a 10A charger, would this be a minimum of 10 as most are higher. Thanks
