Dpf cleaner additives

Folks.
Whats your thoughts on using some of the dpf cleaning additives on a regular basis in the fuel tank. As a preventative
measure. ?
Are they a waste of money?

When I first got my van I put in some Wynns Extreme Diesel cleaner - more because I wanted to 'treat' the van. Can't say I noticed any difference.

I've since been using Archoil AR6900 since the beginning of December - so not long. Gets fantastic reviews.
I haven't been using it long enough to give you an honest review but will report back.

My van is nudging 100K. It was this forum tales of DPF woes that made me do it

I also use Archoil AR6900 and did a one-off treatment of 6400 (which is the super duper one they recommend every 5k miles).
On my A6, the big wallop of 6400 defo made a difference. I almost immediately got better economy (although it was never near official figures) and seemed to have to regen less, at least I thought it did before I was more up to speed on the regen process.
I think there are other parts of the DPF system that can affect its behaviour/longevity without being affected by additives (differential pressure for example).

I will continue to use 6900 though just to see if it gives a bit more life to the EGR. I am not really concerned about the DPF - I think they've got a lifespan and as long as they are looked after, it should reach that.

I spent an hour or two last night, bedtime reading about the woes some people have. Didnt help me sleep one bit.

I have used Millers since my ERG was flushed in 2020.

I always use Wynns Gold, currently on 90,000mls with no issues, I also always maintain at least a third of a tank of fuel so regens can happen when needed, typically every 300 miles, I do 4 x 5mile journeys daily Monday to Thursday with longer runs at the weekend

im also a big fan of this. i buy it in 5l cans which makes it negligible on the cost of a tank of diesel so why not?
