Yes..8mm - 10mm. if your drilling outside inwards I'd go through the external mortar line..to make it easier.
If you drill inside to out, there is a chance the outer brick will break or split making it hard to cover after with a small camera.
Also we normally drill up at a slight angle to stop any future water ingress or leak from rain water.
yes you could do . .Super thanks.
I was planning on going from the outside inwards. Both sides are brick. To stop the inside brick blowing is it worth asking a helper to hold a spare brick on the inside wall as you go through?
And was also planning to seal around the camera base on the wall.
Isn’t it too low, a thief could just cover it or knock it off the wall.
From the scumbags point of view why would they care if their covered face is filmed and recorded. Personally I don’t see the deterrent unless an alarm is triggered or they are interrupted and challenged. There will also be a few who don’t care about being challenged as they’ll be prepared for it.
I’ve worked in South Africa and Brazil, both have crime rates through the roof and the way they deal with it is brutal.
Cant you use the existing conduit a few inches above?
That is a ‘weep hole’ to take away any moisture from the cavity, so I wouldn’t drill/go through there! Personally I would drill your 8mm hole through the middle of the brick to the right of your black tape.... less chance of smashing the corner of the brick off. Also the sandstone lintel is just a facade really.... there will/should be a steel lintel with a minimum bearing of 150mm under that.I will give it a check but I think it comes out too high in the garage. Good idea though
I'd rather go through the soffit than the wall? Mines under the soffit on the garage, works a treat, keeps the weather off it too
The garage soffit? It's horizontal? Or do you mean on the inside?Looked at that. Complete nightmare on the roof angle.
