Ok, the doors themselves don't need venting, only the large very thin double-skinned section shown in the picture that is only present on the drivers door. If you look at a passenger door that bit is not there. The passenger door is smaller as it goes around the filler cap area and does not have the thin section that may be prone to condensation and corrosion. It's the only explanation that makes sense to me but happy to be corrected
