Driveshaft

Hi having trouble getting an issue diagnosed on my 65 plate shuttle, have had lots of work done in the last 12months but am struggling to get to the cause of my current issue.
At around 40-45 mph when accelerating get quite a severe wobble from under the van, nothing before or after this speed range
have had suspension tracking tyres and alloys etc checked all ok, I'm thinking either driveshaft or engine/ gearbox mount but local garages cannot confirm so currently stuck.has anyone had similar issue and rectified it or is there a garage in the Somerset area that someone could recommend? TIA

You posted the same yesterday and I wished then that I could offer advice that would help you, but you've already covered much of the obvious stuff.
Did the wobble start immediately after you'd had other work done on the van?
The only suggestion I can offer is to search previous threads on here relating to driveshafts (if you haven't already).
Have you considered Dual Mass Flywheel failure?

Thanks for the reply, I have read previous post and responses. None of them have exactly the same symptoms or definitive answers, last year alone I had egr and cooler and then intake manifold. Dual mass was then diagnosed and replaced so hopefully that's all good,
Dsg has been serviced regularly and is changing smoothly, I have tried to replicate the fault in manual , auto and sports still the same symptoms irrelevant of what gear or revs it's pulling. Thanks again

As you say, it's sounding like a driveshaft or both.
Keep us updated and good luck.

Thanks it's just finding a local garage willing to investigate and diagnose, I'm leaning towards driveshafts but will probably have all the engine and gearbox mounts checked first, as I remember when they completed the dmf it was returned to me with a loose / incorrectly tightened gearbox mount. Will update when I know, is it advised to use genuine driveshafts or is there a recommended aftermarket brand, I know that genuine are @£1300 plus fit and min two week lead time

Hi I know this thread is a good few months old now but did you ever get this issue diagnosed? I have exactly the same problem, once my T6 reach’s 40-45mph I get a shaking under the van and I feel it through the steering wheel but it passes after a few seconds, I also get a slight knocking noise every now and again when turning (sounds like a spring decompressing). My normal service garage haven’t been able to shed any light so any advice would be appreciated.

My issue was with a untrustworthy garage that said there was no issues with tyres balancing or tracking ( they had checked it all ), I did some research and found a local garage new to me that people trusted, and basically explained what symptoms I had and asked them to start at the tyres and move inward and the balancing was way off, I didn't have any knocking when turning, this was a question I was asked, that might point towards a suspension issue CV joint or shaft, I would get a second opinion from a well reviewed garage.my issue was a cheap fix all four tyres rebalanced. Hope this helps and good luck

Same here.
I had 4 new 18" Michelin tyres fitted to my steel wheels and balanced. On my way home I didn't get the chance to get over 40MPH and in the following few months I didn't exceed 50MPH simply because of my rural location. When I then went on the motorway and got up to 70MPH I'd got a vibration. Of course I thought it can't be a balancing problem, the tyres are almost brand new and were properly balanced.
After checking propshaft (4Motion) and driveshafts, CV joints etc, at a loss to find a problem, I put my old 16" Clayton alloys on and the problem disappeared!
I took the steel wheels back to the tyre depot and they were all miles out of balance. They said I must have lost some weights, which I knew was BS.

I had the very same only did local trips low mph untill I went on holiday and hit the dual carriageway. And this was a tyre garage I have used for all my vehicles for the last 20 years.
Sometimes it pays to start with the simple stuff and work up.

Thanks guys appreciate the feed back. Sounds silly now I’m typing this but I’ve literally only had this problem since having four brand-new tires fitted and like most of you I assumed that using a reputable company would mean that the wheels were balanced correctly (which I’m guessing they haven’t been) I’ll get it booked in ASAP for balancing. Thanks again
