Our system doesn't have AI - I think it just works by identifying changes across a series of still images.

It might be AI. Certainly it somehow knows the difference between and animal and human.

I went with a camera-based setup instead of a driveway alarm. It gives me real-time alerts and video footage, which feels more reliable than just a motion sensor. I use https://www.vivint.com/ because the cameras have good range and the app makes it easy to check what's happening from anywhere. Motion alerts are quick, and I can see if it's just a cat or something actually important.
