DSG - Neutral at the lights?

I noticed on mine some vibration when in gear at lights but total smooth when in neutral.
Have you checked instantaneous fuel consumption display on MFD - it increases a bit when in gear - thus engine puts some torque into transmission.

My van is manual but my golf has DSG - it stays in drive all the time..if im at the lights, stop/start generally kicks in

When I’ve put mine in neutral (or park) with stop/start active, it doesn’t restart when I expect it should. One of the reasons I try to always remember to turn stop/start off!

What's this coasting function you're all talking about. Can't see that option anywhere on my T6.1.

I put mine in neutral at the lights. I believe there is no need, but I do it anyway.

I think it has changed on the T6.1 then. Mine seems to work very well. In fact if Im not paying attention in a queue of traffic when the car in front sets off that restarts my engine.
The disadvantage is this habit a lot of people have of stopping with a gap in front, I stop behind them and the they edge forwards a couple of metres and that starts my engine again.

Hi,

A couple of DSG questions, options please -:

At the traffic lights, is it best to put the van in Neutral or just hold it in drive on the brake?

Is it better to have the Coasting function on or off? I thought off would be better for fuel economy. (I have a DSG van that I drive like I'm taking a weeks worth of eggs to market and get 30 mpg average)

Advice appreciated, thanks.

it's definitely best to put it in neutral for the person sat behind you so they don't have to stare at your brake lights...

Noticed this morning that mine could be better.
I stop with foot on brake, engine cuts out, slip into neutral, apply handbrake, remove foot from brake, engine restarts….ffs.

Have you checked to see if your brake lights are still on? I know our old Mk7 Golf left it's brake lights on even if you came off the pedal, but that might have been an electric park brake / auto hold thing.

That'll be the auto hold system.
