EGR / Cooler Replacement CAAC

Just been quoted £1279 for EGR change on 2016 vehicle with CAAC engine. 3.5 hours labour @ £138 / hr. Last valve was changed at 58k miles by VW Assist on my driveway with a maximum time of 1.5 hours! (under warrantee) OEM replacement for part number 03L 131 512 DS (part number on VW Assist worksheet) is circa £350 online. Van now on 104k so pretty sure I need replacement and I would do this myself except I don't have access to VCDS for adaptation. Calling round local independents but if anyone has someone they are happy to recommend within 30 miles of NP4 Pontypool would be grateful. Also anyone who has attempted install and has any advice please feel free.

Just posted about this in an another thread.
I bought a complete EGR module from GSF for £360 odd - got £108 back when I returned the old (blocked) item.
My tech charged me £120 to fit including replacement coolant - he doesn't charge (me) a lot for labour, maybe £40/hour and apparently it was a "b@stard of a job".
Total was £373

I had my Euro 5 140 EGR assembly changed recently too. It was a special family rate on the labour but it still didn't take long.
From what my mechanic (my wife's uncle) said, the 140 is actually a doddle compared to some!

Yes the other engine variants look a lot more hassle. Think that standard workshop time for change is about 1.5hrs and relatively easy access from top.

I did our euro 5 caab in about 1.5hrs including repeatedly dropping numerous bolts , cursing, swearing etc ..

Dont attempt to fit it on a gravel drive ;)
(Like i did) and whatever you drop instantly vanishes into the stones
