Electric power-closing sliding door motor

Hi guys. Can anyone help. Took rear quarter trim off t6 kombi to sound deadening rear panel and noticed on both sides water is getting via electric slide door motor. Have checked with tps and looked on etka but other than a cover that is bonded in there doesn't seem to be a seal. Surely there must be a seal to stop water going in rear quarter. Has anyone else had this issue and can stwef me in right path

I dont think its bonded on, theres a guide/mounting plate affair that goes on from the outside and has a kind of foam ring seal stuck on, the plate has clips that poke out from it that clip around the hole in the bodywork to hold it on and as you clip it in it compresses the foam ring against the body to form a seal of sorts

When i fitted mine i did think at the time it didnt seem that great but just went with it
I think you will struggle a bit if you intend to change it as it fits from the outside so it needs the external rail cover removing (which means probably breaking most of the clips) then the motor (inside) and rail drive unit(outside) sandwich the plate so its not easy to remove and inspect !

Actually it can be bonded on, heres a pic of the part (albeit not a very good one)

The parts listing shows a bonding agent to go with it

Same part for both sides

OK cheers. I've ordered the rail Cover clips ready but tps couldn't answer on seal and just said that cover bonds in so thought I'd check as need to stop leak

Thanks alot will order bits and attempt at the weekend. Did ask rech at vw but couldn't answer as he said not had many dealings with electric slide doors

I had a recall on mine, was in at VW for 4hrs, they were sealing or adding a sealer to the right sliding door, van had a glue smell in it when I got it back

Wasn't sealant as such was just a primer to activate the glue side of the seal on the cover. That had strong smell

Hi all, I'm having the same issue, water ingress from somewhere around the sliding door drive motors.
According to Vindis VW, there doesn't appear to be a recall for my van.
Question for Savgav1.
What did you do to resolve the leak? Did you buy new covers?
And did you need the clips you'd ordered? Not sure if I need to get some before dismantling to look at the covers.
Cheers.

Hi. Just need the covers to fix thats all I needed

Cheers mate
Sorry forgot to mention guessing when you said clips you mean the rail Cover er clips, yes you will need new ones of them as they break when you remove rail cover to gain access to the cover over motor spindle.

Hi all, has the leak been resolved on your vans now after replacing the covers? I've just had the back panels off both sides of my T6 and both are leaking.
The left electric slide door control unit is corroded and now drying out in the house but I suspect its knackered.

Cheers, Shaun

I have a spare control unit if your looking for a second hand replacement

Do you need to buy any of the primer for the seal or does it just fit straight on to the body work?

I'll come back to you on that - I'll give mine a good clean today with some disc cleaner and airline at work.

Investigating why one of my doors doesn't work I've found both motor seals leak, one sliding door handle funnel leaks and both side windows

Standard, everyone knows you dont buy a transporter to keep water on the outside
Thanks for the controller offer, but thankfully my door is now working after drying out the controller and giving it a good clean with disc cleaner. Soaked all the connectors with ACF50 too.

Next challenge stop the leaks - got two aftermarket windows and a new door handle funnel to fit... just need to order seals for the sliding door motors!
