electric windows/folding mirrors

Hi all

right, I'm trying to install T6 mirrors and electric window motors into my T5. I thought the window motor would control the mirror fold function hence the wiring going to these? I assume I wouldn't need a relay/control unit to be able to fold on the switch panel? I do have the older central locking still in situ which may cause an issue? do I need signals from the door locks to talk to the winder motors for the whole thing to work. also I'm currently having difficulty with windows timing out. Again maybe something to do with e locks.

to be clear at the moment I have

windows working for only 5 mins or so then needing to unplug wait and reconnect?
mirror adjustment works fine
folding not working as mentioned above but do work direct from the battery

I want to keep it looking factory without adding aftermarket switches

thanks Matt

How many wires are there in your mirror loom (on the van side)? For folding mirrors, on a T6, there are 7 cores. 5 cover remote control and folding and 2 are for heating the mirror. Not sure beyond that..

I imagine your door contol module has to be compatible for folding mirrors, have you checked this? and it also may need configured with VCDS for it to work.

Perhaps something useful in these:

Ok thanks for the replies. I now see that the control modules are part of the winder motor. It seems the drivers module has 2 wires for folding but the passenger not. VCDS isn’t gonna work as it’s not wired up to the van so im looking at the relay/after market controls in the first link mmi sent.

the other issue is the windows. I have only applied 12v to the large wire to power them. This allow them to work but seems to time out after a few minute. I need to find out what I need to connect to keep the motors from doing this. I assume I need to connect this through the central locking? As I said I have kept the old central locking wiring. I think I need a signal from the old to new to keep the motors active?

thanks Matt

Still playing around with all this! can anyone tell me what the green/blue wire does that goes into the window control modules. it appears at both motors and runs into the dash (I thinks) defo runs out from the doors to into the van. I'm adding this so need to find a home for them?

thanks

LIN-bus to the BCM? Have a look ---> Power fold mirror retrofit with fold on remote lock

Even more complete diagram in Downloads -->

ok, seeing I don't have a BCM in my 2004 base van what would you suggest? like I said before this could be the cause of my winder motors shutting down after a few minutes. I will be wiring up my mirrors, relays and heating elements tomorrow so hopefully will be nearing completion! still worried I may have an issue with the winders?

Hmmm... I would say there is a BCM - you mentioned it being a T5 (which started 2003 I think).
Have a look e.g. here for wiring diagrams (BCM = J519)
I'm not sure if I can help but please keep posting your findings/questions as someone might be able to help.
