Electrical Question

according to Mr Victron . . . there is no chance of getting a Live/Earth sock from an isolated mains supply as there is no return path to the source.
When was the last time you saw a chicken on a power line?.............I agree Mr Victron.......... but f**ked if I would demonstrate this in a "Look it's fine" type of demo!

Bear in mind that on a campsite the bollard will have its own protection, so you will be well protected with EHU breaker (part if the campsite supply) with an additional breaker on the input side of your van.
So...... after the Delta...... earth leakage protection? How will that work? (Just interested!)
- well it depends on if you have a transfer switch that connects the vans main to the EHU Post.

which the delta Does have.

so normally when running on EHU the grid is directly switched to the van via its OP, including the Earth pin im assuming? ( needs to be checked / tested with a meter)

if there is a Live-Earth fault the EHU RCD will detect it and trip as will the CU . . . so what ever one is fastest will trip 1st.

however . . . . .

if the EHU is OFF . . . . the the Delta transfer switch will disconnect the grid and connect the inverter OP to the van - which is isolated from the grid ( so a Live-Earth fault cant exist, but a Live-Neutral can exist, which should trip/blow a fuse - )

..

How do you justify spending so much time on this forum to your wife?
You are a star.... your wife must be a legend!
:think smile bounce:
Edit: that was a query for @Dellmassive!

To have it working as a UPS like above...

You would need to change the wiring in the van a bit...

You need to rewire the EHU so it's connected to a single socket in a cupboard....

Use this socket to plug in the Delta's charging cable.

Now you need to take a 3pin plug from the output of the Delta and wire it to the other sockets in the van.

That way with no EHU the Delta powers the vans sockets.

Then when on EHU the Delta will charge and also pass mains through to the sockets.
Hi, Im kind of new to all of this, just in the early stages of VW T6.1 conversion, and Im looking at the Ecoflow Delta 2 to power the whole van, I think what you describe above will work for EHU, question I have is would this need a consumer unit? And Im sure solar would plug straight into the Delta, just need to figure split charge for charging when driving.
