Electrics help!

I’m desperately trying to understand where the location for a number of electrical connection blocks are but I just don’t seem able to.

In particular I’m looking for T17o, a 17-pin black connector block. I’m using the current flow electrical wiring diagrams and it states it is behind the lower section of the right D-pillar trim. However, I can’t find it!

I need this connector for two reasons:

1. Powering up a new heated tailgate glass.
2. Adding in a genuine VW rear lid contact switch - this is so I can open the tailgate from the inside.

My initial thought was the connector block is hidden in the top corner with the roof lining, where all the tailgate wires run through the rubber housing to get inside the rear of the van. I can’t see any connectors that are 17-pin size. To make matters more difficult I can’t get behind the metal panel where the pop-top frame is fitted.

My second thought is could these connectors be the ones inside the passenger double seat?? There are a bank of different coloured connectors blocks, inc a black one and they are all 17-pin that connect through to a second corresponding 17-pin connector. However, I unplugged the black one and switched on the van - all the electrics in the tailgate inc LED lights worked, except the parking sensors. So I’m concluding that’s not the 17-pin connector I’m looking for.

So - where is it!!!

When I installed my towbar there was a couple of connectors in the back passenger side by of the D pillar. I don't recall the number of connectors in the blocks but one of them was black. Some of the wires would have gone back to the towbar ECU under the drivers seat.

Thanks manfrotto, I have two black connector blocks in that location but neither look like 17-pin. Pic below shows termination into what I think is a relay.

Hi there, I am sure the 17pin plug for the tailgate is at the top of the D post. As you say it will be difficult to access because of the pop top insert
