Have a 23 plate kombi. Couple of months ago, the doors stopped automatically locking when driving even though selected in the settings menu. They lock with the key fob and with a manual press.
The tailgate also stopped opening with the keyfob or the switch in the driver's door - but would still open with the tailgate button itself.
Also noted that the proximity sensors would only intermittently come on when in slow-moving traffic - but always on when selecting reverse.
Took to VW who said that my aftermarket tow-bar isn't coded correctly and this is stopping the tailgate opening - am going to go back to the original fitter to have a look. They said that this is also why the sensors are intermittently working in slow traffic. They forgot to look at the locking but am going back next week so will ask them to look at it this time.
But I noticed a slight gap in the black sheath that sits either side of the driver's window, that isn't there on the passenger side window. Could water ingress messing up some electronics to control the boot and automatic central locking be the issue here?
