Hi , just looked under my van at the spare tyre and it's on a 16" tyre 205/65 R16
In a emergency would this be ok to limp to a garage to get my 20" tyre fixed ?
Thanks
It depends on all the other measurements for the 20s when compared to the spare (ie. it's the overall size of the wheel/tyre combo that counts). Also, is the van 2 or 4WD as mixing sizes on the latter is not a good idea (that's my understanding anyway). Somebody who knows more than me will probably be along soon enough.

You are correct, it is not the rim size but the overall package of rim and tyre combined its circumference or diameter. You are also correct that is not generally a good idea to mix sizes on AWD, 4Wheel Drive, 4Motion vehicles. I would not mix sizes on any other vehicle either that is 2 wheel drive either unless specified by manufacturer. ABS Wheel Speed Sensors, sending conflicting information to ecu does not seem to be the brightest idea. Though I dare say for a minimal distance at a reduced speed. A suggestion to the original poster might be if it is found that the matching spare does not fit the spare wheel well, then he could mount the spare on the back door with a wheel mounting solution as can be found on the forum or to carry it secured inside the rear of the van.
