Engine cleaning after EGR-delete

I’ve performed an EGR delete on my T6 with the CXEB engine by removing the pipe between the EGR cooler and the exhaust manifold, plugging the holes, and reprogramming the ECU to disable the EGR function. The van has run approximately 235,000 km, and since it consumes a significant amount of oil, I can’t help but wonder what the inside of the engine looks like.

Would it be safe to use an additive to clean the intake side and, by extension, the inside of the cylinders? What kinds of additives are available that won’t exacerbate the oil consumption issue? I’ve recently installed a new turbo, so I know that’s in good condition.

I found after doing the same and a few oil changes I was getting an all good from the oil analysis. It was still burning oil like there was no tomorrow. I looked at everything, reality was if spending any more money on it, best bet was put it all towards a new engine

I figured this would be the most reasonable to do, thanks for your reply!

Might as well just top up the oil like before and run it until it gives clear signs of wanting to go in early retirement.

I thought it was a good van before (baring the oil use of course), now its amazing. It goes like hell and is getting better as the miles roll on. DPF in place, EGR blanked, oil changes every 5k, with lots in the first 7k. Good luck

Did you swap yours yourself? Wondering what kind of job it would be to DIY.

People do it. See the "VW T5.1/T6 2.0 BiTDi CFCA/CXEB Engine excessive oil use" FB page. There are a few people on this page who have gone diy. I might have tried if I had the facilities. Retro Resus did my engine work.

By the time I was ready to get it done the bus was running well but I was worried about the DPF which was only a year old and £2.5 to replace. It was drinking 1ltr of oil every few hundred miles at best. Not surprising the oil analysis was good! It was constantly fresh oil
