Evening! TSI DSG content

That’s interesting. Few questions if you don’t mind…

1. How did you gut the pre-cat?
2. How do you know that’s enough of a change for more power vs custom downpipe? Any other examples?
3. Do you expect it to be louder?

Thanks for sharing pictures

1. Pain in the arse to remove but do-able on the driveway if you're handy with the spanners.
2. Only from what I've been reading up on and from other people's experience and Maf flow readings of gutted pre-cats Vs custom downpipes.
The existing downpipe is 3" inlet down to 2.75" exit so fairly substantial which will easily flow 400bhp.
3. I've been out for a quick test spin, not really noticeably louder in the van but mine is fully insulated, bit deeper note on tickover as effectively you've removed a small silencer as the pre cat will have a silencing effect on the system.
Certainly no drone inside.
Van seems to pick up noticeably better at lower rpm, I also noted my MAF reading on peak power on my local drag strip peaked at 230g/s whereas before I never saw more than 225g/s

Cheers Pete

Looks to fit a bit easier than the Forge one! Getting those pipes on was a pain!

I also left the little plastic deflector off at the bottom of the cooler so that a bit more was exposed to the airflow. I think it was only there when the smaller cooler had a gap there?

Yeah I might get round to taking that off at some point, I was running out of light and time to get it all back together, the last pic of it back together is surprisingly dark, guess that's modern phone camera tech for you

I fitted the pipes first on ours and then carefully had the wife feed them through as I manoeuvred the cooler into place ..
But ours has the old crappy pipes that clip into place so I didn't wanna run the risk of trapping the new seals fitting them with the cooler in situ.

Ah right sorry I thought the hoses were upgraded too as the OEM rubber is pretty thin and flexible....don't think they last long at twice the power.

I'm trying to source some Forge ones but they have ceased production .
Trying to find a set in stock is proving tricky.

In the meantime in preparation for further up coming power increases later this year I went to BMVS/Bognor Motors for a TVS stage 2+ DSG map.
Not cheap but holy hell it's transformed the van...

Which hoses are you after ?

Which hoses are you after ?

Unfortunately, Forge have recently discontinued those hoses despite vendors still listing them for sale..
Unless somewhere has them in stock it's not happening unless they make another limited batch

Do the 2 stockists I listed not have any in stock ?
Unfortunately there's not many tsi's so not much call for forge to make them anymore.
Unless you can find 10 people plus willing to place an order.

I've tried literally everyone including a firm on eBay who listed them as in stock, I've also sent messages to the companies you've suggested so we'll see what happens!

Have tried tried Samco or these ?

Only Forge made kits for the TSI unfortunately....
Think I might just invest in some new OEM hoses at some point is they're good for nearly 500 bhp
