We picked up our ex RAC van yesterday in Wales and bought it to Cornwall.

The Auxiliary battery overheated and started to vent about 66 miles from home, I didn't have tools with me but managed to wiggle a fused link (green arrow) until a nut came loose and I was able to disconnect the thick red wire on the battery, also noticed the plastic on the white 80A fuse (red arrow) had melted but the fuse hadn't blown, nearly needed a real RAC van. :D

I started after lunch with it like this:

This evening it looks like this, I managed to remove the racking and the bulkhead panels, I also made a start on removing some of the electrics, the T6 forum RAC wiring diagram is very helpful so far.

Tomorrow I will remove more electrics, I also want to see if the reversing camera can be made to work, if anyone has done this then any tips would be great.

Well I think the reversing camera doesn't work so I have just took most of it out.
I have removed just about all of the RAC wiring back to the auxiliary battery.

Started undressing her:

Finished undressing her:

A few dents in the top of the tailgate but I am putting a window in this panel so it doesn't matter:

Fitted wind deflectors:

Also ground out the bulkhead mounting lip on the lower sides and bottom.

Next job will probably be insulation and windows.:)

Well we now have windows!
It rained heavy on Saturday but on Friday we took her for a carwash to check for leaks, one small pinhole leak but I sealed that on Friday night and it was all good for the rain on Saturday. :)

I've the same dents on my tailgate. They must hang something on there.
Looks much better with the windows

Initially mine didn't work as the RAC have removed their hardware from under the passenger seat. I removed the front camera and wired it up as per the manufacturers manual and the rear camera worked fine.
This voyager manual has the same requirements...

As a current RAC van driver (still got an 18 plate LWB) the battery under the seat is too big. Should be an 027agm at the very most.
The rear view cameras are shocking and has probably been replaced twice already. If you fit another and the display is reversed you can either cut 1 wire at the camera (can't remember which) or use the screen settings to flip it.

More sound deadening and insulation done. I have got the old RAC GPS to remove from the roof, I need a better DAB aerial so I might replace it with one on the roof as I don't like the look of the window mount ones.

All of the panels have Dodo matt, foil faced foam, plastic fibre matting then I have put a piece of foil faced foam but haven't removed the backing so I can still get at the back of it if I want to but without it sticking to the foam.

I also did the front doors today, easier to get into than I thought.

I didn't try to get into every nook and cranny, instead I just stuck the sheet where I could

When I did my cab doors the consensus of opinion from what I read was to apply sound deadening to the door skin but no foam;
1. If it detaches it will foul the window regulator.
2. The window seal is not water tight and any water running through the door could be absorbed.

I used 10mm acoustic foam on the door card which has worked out well.

This is the reason I put the foam on the inside and just sound deadening on the outer skin.
I was worried about it becoming detached, not so much about the water as it is a closed cell foam.

Most of the sound deadening and insulation is in and the flooring down, I also put some 9mm packers in between the insulation and the 12mm ply.

Some carpeting has been done on both sides and above the tailgate.

I used biscuit joints to keep the boards in line.

I have placed the Altro flooring down but haven't glued it yet.

Today I have installed the solar panel and a new DAB aerial on the roof, the panel is sealed to the ribs, front and sides, I left the back end open in between the ribs.

I decided to mount the panel with the cables nearer the front for a shorter cable run.
20230807_101519.jpg20230807_103634.jpg
I also added primer and sealant (not pictured) around any drilled holes.

I need to tidy up a bit of sealant but am happy with it overall.

I have got some orange paint to paint the patches.
