Exposed bulkhead screws

Here are some photos (sorry for the blur, was in a rush before work). I also have a garage that specialises in customisation near me (Jopo customs) - the van is with them today so they are going to have a look at the seats.

That seat brackets look fine, i'd be amazed if they have been fitted without the strengthening brackets underneath
 
I’ve found one of these good for grinding without causing too much mess and minimal sparks.


Also, you can get specific drill bits for spot welds. I have one that is like an 8mm hole saw and it sort of cuts a circle around the spot and released the panel to be removed. It does leave a disc of metal attached to the vehicle which can be ground or left. Remember to paint any bare metal left showing.

This should be straightforward for a conversion company though you may need a bit of recarpeting on the B pillars.

Like you, I think it looks unsafe and easy to catch a flailing limb on it in an accident.
