Extending towbar to fit other bike carriers?

Hi Folks,

I am searching for an bike carrier, there are a couple of good options but one of the better options would be a regular Uebler I21 it just doesn't fit by 1-2 cm when opening the trunk. (Not barndoors).

Now, there is a uebler 21z that can open 90° which fits right way, but I could save €400+ if I fit a regular one.

Does anyone know if there is an towbar 2cm longer? Would that hurt? I know if I extend the towbar, forces will be higher... But with 2 ebike max 45 kilo, it should be okay.

Thanks!

Why not just buy one that works with your tow bar?

But with 2 ebike max 45 kilo
Plus the weight of the carrier itself of course. A long time ago, I asked Westfalia about changing the towball on my toe bar for a different version and they said they do not recommend it as it would void any warranty because it wouldn't have been tested. That said, I suspect they were just covering their 6. @Skyliner33 33 is right.

I understand your points, and I am aware there are quite a few carriers who work out of the box or some with a modification.

But there are some carriers which have my preferences which just don't fit by 1-2cm

Like the Spinder tx2, it's very much like the Thule Epos and how that system is setup from the middle is brilliant. The regular Uebler I21 would be just fine, but also 1 cm not working, instead you have to get the i21z, if that due to terrain can't be entire brought down , the tailgate can't ve opened... And some more.

Anyway, if you could extend the towbar just a tiny bit, it would bring much more options . Therefor looking if it would be an viable option.
