Factory swivels

Hello all. I have standard captain's seats in the front. Would like to swap them for factory swivels. Have looked at aftermarket swivels but it seems a bit hit and miss with regards to having a bit of movement in the seats with an after-market swivel base but the factory model ones seem solid. Just wanted to ask, do I need to buy the seats and a new base or do they use the base I have already for my non-swivel seats?
TIA

What aftermarket ones have you looked at?

I have a set of RIB swivels for sale.

But the OEM ones seem rock solid.

You have 2 options. You can either sell you captains seats and buy ones with the factory swivel. I did this in my last van. It cost in total about the same as buying aftermarket swivels for my seats.
Or you could buy just the swivel mechanism from VW. Then swap these for the seat height adjuster in your seats.
You will not need to change the seat bases.

If you swap the seat mechanism you will also need different plastics around the bottom of the seat.

I have an OEM swivel on my drivers seat, and to be honest I wouldn't bother with it again. YMMV.

Why is that?
Its a bit of a pain to swivel, with the steering wheel getting in the way. I bet I've only used it a handful of times. And when I get a kitchen fitted soon I imagine it will be even less used. In fact I'm toying with going the other way. Factory swivel to non swivel. You might have different priorities though.

Have Rusty Lee swivels on both and not a great deal of movement as new but heard mixed reviews so invested in the wedges from Bognor Motors and now there is zero moment.. easy to remove the wedges for when you need to use them..

Thanks for the info
