It means that there is no communication with the transmission on powertrain CANbus. All the other controllers are online and communicating with Carista and with each others. And because the transmission does not communicate with the engine, ABS, etc. is causing problems on the car.
You need to fix the communications problem.

I would start by checking the connector and wiring at and around the DSG for any signs of corrosion.

What @mmi said there - could be a wiring issue to the transmission. So ABS and other controller units don't see the transmission CAN messages at all. It could also be a totally dead tranny controller, however wiring issue is much more likely.

Hi thanks. Would that be something i could look at as it is on the drive. As is car will start. Wont come out of park. I can use manual override on gearstick but even in Drive it only revs up wont move and faults present. Is that transmission wire under the car or in the engine bay

Well, maybe, it depends.... where and what the fault is - just a corroded connection, wiring break, or failed controller...
I believe the connector is accessible from top. Picture below shows how to release the locking tab to release the connector.
However, the service guide has a serious warning about proper ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) measures when working with open connector.

Thanks. Yes it is a 6 or 7speed dsg auto. i will have look for same and see if there is anything untoward.

Auto electrician diagnosed it as no communication from gearbox to ecu or something like that. Said it was tcm and suggest to replace complete gearbox with secondhand unit replacement. I prefer not to as the used one could have same issue or become an issue in future. I have found a gearbox place that refurbishmes gearboxes he said they will refurbish gearbox tcm n megatronic.

The smoking gun here is the right rear wheel speed sensor.
I removed the rear wheel and removed the bolt holding the sensor and tried to remove it but it was stuck fast.

I sourced a replacement from @Pauly and set about the repair.

As I suspected, the old one broke off!

Therefore, I had to remove the caliper, disk and backing plate to get better access to effent the removal.

Next it was in with the dremmel;

Then a bit of heat to soften the plactic;

Then worked it out with grips and a bit of levering with a small screwdriver;

Cleaned up the port and installed the new one;

Refitted everthing in reverse.
The lights cleared as soon as the ignition was next turned on, but I cleared out all the fault codes anyway as the VCDS was connected.

Job done!

Hello, I had this problem recently. Mine are less than 30,000 miles from new. What I did was drill a narrow hole in the broken sensor stub and screw in a large screw and in it through a piece of metal to act as a lever. Popped out no problem.

The problem with error message U1123 (Passat B8) was caused by corrosion - successfully solved by cleaning the wiring and replacing the outside temperature sensor.

(First my car started showing completely wrong outside temperature, this stopped the cooling and cabin temperature settings working. Then the various error messages started, like loss of tire pressure, adaptive cruise control not working, etc. Diagnostics found error U1123).

The lights cleared as soon as the ignition was next turned on, but I cleared out all the fault codes anyway as the VCDS was connected.

Job done!

All I did when I did mine (replaced all four even though only one was broken) was jack up the vehicle, remove the wheels. Screw a 4cm screw in the broken part and lever out with a small claw (small claw hammer if will fit) and a piece of wood to rest the claw on. Any that were really tight to refit I gently sanded down to reduce the diameter a touch. Regards Stephen
