I'm all for females having central roles, but create a new one, it might be better than Bond.

Books written in the past had stereotypes of strong characters and leaders that people followed whether male or female, unfortunately the film industry will try to replicate a formula to reflect today’s thinking....what they may create for one audience ruins it for another...

One day I "chanced upon" a video of women's beach volleyball. It didn't make me want to watch men's beach volleyball.

there are plenty of names now that are which way you choose.
Always loved the old Bond films when I was a kid, all the gadgets and improbable escapes , in fact I've watched three again since Sean Connery died. Wouldn't occur to me to read the books though, cold war stuff like Le Carre are more my idea of spy books.
I'm open minded to any actor taking the lead in the next one, male or female, and if I don't like them it'll be on the grounds that they're crap (see Dalton, Brosnan) and that'll ruin the franchise for me until the next change. If they are good in the role then great. I'm interested to see who it will be.

Its a bit like the Dr Who thing. Who. I fell sorry for the lass who has taken on the roll because of the absolute _ _ _ _ poor script. It is just dreadful as is the directing. They do not seem to have figured out who or what audience Dr Who is aiming at. It will save on buying new sofas I suppose. Perhaps it is aimed at some hypothetical US audience. I feel that they need more sinister characters and have plots that do not always turn out quite so well and less well do gooders. The present Dr incumbent is a very good actor but I am concerned that she made a mistake intaking it on because it probably wont end well for her or others which is a shame.
Marketing. Using a known franchise makes more money.

Political correctness (why else would we even think about a female James Bond?) might trump everything in the public sector, but money is king (or Queen) in the private sector. And 007 is most definitely from the private sector.

I dont watch woman's footie. Not yet. Its still lower league quality and unless you follow someone like everton, you're going to notice the drop off in pace, skill and support.
Who knows in 10 or 20 yrs though? Its only just begun really and it may offer its own differing type of attraction in the future as they improve. Improve they will too. Its come quite a long way already.
A lot of young women and girls enjoy women's football. My daughter does and was a decent player when she wasn't in Nandos. Sure, women's footie may not be for some, but it will be for others and who are we to say they cannot? Theres plenty of room for every game. Variety and all that. I dont like soaps so I simply dont watch them. Its that easy.
