Hello t6 forum,

I thought this may be useful for anyone who is looking at this head unit and wants to see it fitted.

It seems a solid unit and we have had no issues. The Apple / Google car play is seamless and connects within 30 seconds of getting in the vehicle (no action needed on the phone).

The rear view camera is also from Dynavin and is plug and play with a suitable T6 light bracket for the camera.

The quality is solid for the price and it look around 4 hours to install with the cable in the headlining along the drivers side.

Was around 500 euros for the head unit, unlocking the zlink, and camera.

Happy to answer any questions if helpful.

Thanks,

I’m looking into getting a new head unit but don’t want to spend more than £500. This looks too good to be true and you get what you pay for (usually). I don’t want anything other than CarPlay really and I don’t need radio or cameras and apps.
How are you getting on with the Dynavin? Did you encounter any more issues such as lag or cutting out? How is the glare on the screen?
You can currently get it for €300 plus the €99 for the CarPlay activation.

I'm also looking into same device you installed. I own same Caravelle as yours. Did you lost any steering wheel controls or MFD connection?
I see both open-close turning wheels on A/C grilles are missing, you did it intentionally?
Any difference in sound quality between stock and new microphone while using phone?
Thanks Dejan.

Hi both,

The unit is very decent and I was surprised just how well integrated it is. When I turn the ignition, it takes about 10-20 seconds to boot and connect automatically with my phone for wireless carplay (Andriod and Apple both work). So no complaints and it will even switch from Light mode maps to Dark mode when I turn on my driving lights.

Regarding the MFD, I am not sure which version I have but I noticed the following:

When using google maps, it shows the navigation steps (arrow with distance to turn and so on) on the instrument panel display.
When adjusting the climate controls is shows on the headunit also.

To meet it seems well integrated as if a stock unit.

Regarding sound, I have no idea any difference in quality as I never heard the stock headunit (it was replaced new just before pickup by the previous owner) but it seems fine and no issues. headunit fader and so on works as expected.

Glare wise, its very bright in the day and switches to night mode when I manually turn my headlights on (I don't have automatic headlights).

Their was on issue I had that carplay was not connecting after my android phone did a major update, and to fix it, i had to do a firmware update of the headunit. This is very easy to do and their is a USB cable you can have connected to the head unit from the glove box where you can plug in a USB drive with any firmware you download from their website.

Regarding installation, I did not do it myself, but when installing the rear view camera (myself) it seemed quite simple and plug an play with the original connections. The unit comes with a new plastic grille that replaces the original and looks OEM. My vents close by sliding the middle slider all the way to the right, therefore I dont have sliders in the blocked ports.

Hope that is useful, and happy to take any pictures or videos if useful.

BR,
Alan
