Thanks for that. I followed the link but couldn’t find the carrier!I was going to ask the same, but I’ve just realised the link is at the start of the thread @JOG
Thanks for that. I followed the link but couldn’t find the carrier!
Jeez! So now I need to fret about the carrier being nicked?!!!I got the wheel carrier here
Spare Wheel Carrier Kit for VW T5 / T6
This kit includes everything you need to add a spare wheel carrier to your VW California. Includes the main carrier and all components.vwcaliforniaclub.com
But it seems to have gone up a lot in price since I bought one.
Yeah. It wasn’t that much before, maybe price is wrong?Jeez! So now I need to fret about the carrier being nicked?!!!
Was that just for carrier or include pin, bolt and locking nut?My carrier was £35 on eBay which I thought was expensive for what it is
It included everything. I think it was removed from a van being converted so was new unused. Was that just for carrier or include pin, bolt and locking nut?
Are you planning on fitting it under the van? Don’t know if an 18inch wheel will fit?Hi guys hope this is OK to jump on here? If not please remove…I’m after a spare wheel 235/50/18 plus tyre not bothered about condition as its only to be used as spare. If anyone has one please drop me a message
thanks Andy
Thanks I’ll try to get some measurements!!Are you planning on fitting it under the van? Don’t know if an 18inch wheel will fit?
That’s odd - I’m sure I read a post where @BognorMotors managed to fit oneI’ve just taken out my standard 16” spare wheel and tyre (205/65/16) from under the van and tried to replace it with an 18” Amarok and 235/50/18 tyre. Even with dropping the carrier down to allow for a wider wheel/tyre there was no way it was fitting…. I couldn’t squeeze it on to the drop bolt even at its limit!
That will be really tight under there, if it will even fit . The width will squeeze…..just, it’s the diameter - it’s 40mm bigger across the circumstance than a 275/35/20 - which we do a modified bracket for, and is a real squeeze.
If you went for 235-55-18 that would work. This so the size we use for the lowered swamper look and is available for all weight ratings.
@Ads_Essex I don’t know mate, but I definitely couldn’t get it to fit. It might have something to do with the particular tyre…. this one is a Bridgestone Weather Control and does seem to be quite a fat/chunky tyre?
