Going mad over rim size for t32

I must confess - I’m very confused! @rileyrussell.89 do you want to change/improve how the van looks or do you want to change/improve how the van rides/handles? Do you know if your van is a T32 or other variant?

If a “problem” could be articulated then a clearer view on potential solutions could be put forward. That could even be: “I’d like my van to be lowered, with wheels that fill the arch more yet still provide comfortable handling!”

Just trying to help steer a route through my confusion!

Sorry to confuse; I'm after wider/larger wheels than the skinny stock 205/65 16s. Suspension is not a concern to me and looks will be a natural advantage of course.

Cool, that helps! I think the confusion arose from your original post that that 16” wheels contributed to the body roll.

There are trade members on this forum I have observed before give free advice and guidance to people as far-flung away as you! This is a testament to their reputations and professionalism given that there isn’t a “sale” at the end of the discussion for them!

Ping @CRS Performance or @The Van Cave or @BognorMotors a note setting out three thing: what your current experience is; what you would like to achieve; and, what your van must be capable of (eg carrying loads or being converted etc) and I’m sure you’ll get very good guidance. They may even be able to ship you parts you need.

Thankyou for the feedback. Am I right in thinking a wider rim (say 8.5) would benefit from a wider offset (say 35) to get that inside edge away from anywhere itll rub?

The offsets I gave you were pretty conservative and would also work with 8.5 wide wheels. Run the 255/45 18 tyre to keep the required load rating and you'll have no problems.

Body roll won't be improved with bigger wheels/wider tyres. In a simple world where all other things remain the same, a wider tyre will give you more grip, but that doesn't reduce body roll. To reduce body roll you will need to upgrade your shocks or the anti roll bars, or better still both. Both can be done without lowering the vehicle if you still want to maintain the standard ride height.

I think I may have used the term roll in the wrong way... I understand body roll is suspension, I meant more the loose grip/sidewall flex from the stockers which can feel like roll.
In australia 255/55/18 are the most common for the load rating, would I be safe with that size in a 38 offset on 8.5 rims?
