Morning all,
Obviously new to the forum, hence the post. Also yet to purchase a van, this will be done hopefully by the Autumn, kitchen being fitted and garden being landscaped so time is a tad precious at the moment.
I'm the wrong side of 50 and myself and SWMBO have decided to take the plunge and go down the camper route, been toying with the idea for a few years, so another mid-life crisis is on the horizon (done the motorbike route, tattoos etc) and campervan it is.
The majority of our soiree's will include taking the 2 hounds away with us so still undecided about a LWB or SWB as it's bad enough sharing the bed with the wife who snores, yet alone having 2 dogs leaping around all over the place.
Hoping to go and view a couple of different options over the next few weeks so we can work out what will work best in terms of space once the bed has been made up.
I'll scour the forum for some answers that I'm looking for but I'm sure I'll be back with some questions very shortly.

On buying a T6, anything to look out for, what to avoid etc.
Bonjour for now.

Welcome!

We’re on the same journey (less the dogs) just awaiting the teenagers to say they don’t want to go away with us and the crew bus will be converted to a camper.

My advice is to get yourself along to busfest in September and look at vans and chat to owners.

I’m erring towards just sleeping in the van and cooking etc outside and no pop top.

Welcome to the forum. I would advise a LWB van, that extra 40cms makes a big difference. For what it's worth we went for a full width bed, so much more space.

Is that 40cm internally? If so then i think the search will be narrowed down to a LWB.

Cheers all for the warm welcome, heading to Tewkesbury the weekend to look at a few options, there's a place up there that specialise in converting VW's (The Camper Van Factory), they look very reputable and were very knowledgeable on the phone. They generally have stock of Transporters ready to be converted, their conversion costs range from £12k (SWB) to £13k (LWB)
So I will be going armed with a list of questions, queries but minus the cheque book as the wife can be very impulsive.
Once we have worked out what we want, SWB or LWB and what goodies we want to go for, the full search will commence. It will then be a case of deciding to get an oven ready one or go down the bespoke route.

*Still browsing here on a daily basis and getting some great answers and information*

Hi,
Dunno if someone has said this already, but something I did not think about is the kitchen and fridge when I bought mine. I have a sink and 2 rings burner which I never use, I should of gone for the 1 ring in the corner behiond the drivers seat option. The reason I dont need a sink is I was in a collapsable bowl and store water in a 10L container that has a tap.
Ref my fridge, I find it a tad bit small for our needs. The shelf spaces are tiny and not really helpful for our type of camping. I in hindsite would of asked for a removable cool box storage compartment as you defo need a cooling device of somekind.

My only advice is think about what your getting and if your gonna actually use it or are you getting it for the re sale if you ever sell?
