[Guide] How To Retrofit MFSW And Cruise Control To T6 Eu6 2019 Startline - Also Hacking DSG Paddles For CCS

Ok I ordered a correct T6 loom kit. My one came off a Golf 7. I am not fancy cutting in and reserching corect size spades. I still did not understand why did you joined two brown wires. Is It a necessary mod or you just did it because of your loom?

Tape 1 up and insulate and use 1 off only .. I commoned both out on spade connector but not necessary for horn operation ... that's just what I did for no loose wires in the Airbag !!

I already installed MFSW but there are some differences in wiring so I might have to sort out BCM upgrade firs. I just wish to make right the wiring on the T41 connector.
I believe pin locations are the same in T5.1 and T6 is there a diagram available for a T6 T41, T73A, T73B connectors? So I can compare.

See Dellmassive thread .. How it did it MFSW with DSG paddles .. full diagrams are embedded in the thread OR read this thread from the start all the wiring information is there OR download the diagrams from the Forum download section.

My wiring is from T41 pin 9 goes into +12v and pin 10 LIN bus on T73B position 17. Are T6's has a Lin bus on pin36?

I can't comment on T5.1 for the Lin bus but on My T6 pin 10 Linbus ..it went to T73b pin 36 ... yours on pin 17 maybe correct.

At this point I just hoping that VW did not moved all the pin layouts to a different position on a newer BCM

Can't comment on BCM .. why are you changing .. is it better to
Check with someone who has installed on T5.1 for connection comparisons and BCM model / variation !

Good luck

Thank you. Now I got some digging to do.

I cange BCM mainly to fit CCS on my steering wheel, but the new BCM will let me do more possible upgrades identical to a T6.

Unfortunately I cannot afford a T6 caravelle so I will build one :)

This is really great info guys, but I'd rather pay a company to do this for me, and I don't have a coding tool. I have a standard T6 wheel with paddles on the way, and not after the paddle mod to work with CCS.
I'm based in Portsmouth, so I'm thinking Absolute5 near Salisbury is my best option.
Any other suggestions?
Many thanks

I just bought a Polo wheel on ebay. Looks great in the photos (waiting for it to arrive). 80 quid. However, I've just realised it has a completely different airbag mounting arrangement. So I'm guessing either it's a wasted purchase or I need to buy a Polo airbag. I'll have a look at it when it arrives and decide if it's worth investing in it further.

Hi. My van doesn't currently have CCS. I've ordered the Kufatec wiring kit. It's just arrived and it's got the wires for the +12V supply and to the BCU, but it's missing the repair wire to the ECU. I've tried researching part numbers for repair wires, but I'm not sure exactly which one I need. Does anyone know where I can get this wire? Thanks

I have tried to do this mod but without any joy.:( bcm is happy with mfsw but the engine ecu did not like it. while digging around came across
some info.
cruisue via MFSW
CJKA, CJKB, CXEB, CXEC, CXFA, CXGA, CXGB, CXHA, CXHB.
cruise via stalk
CAAA, CAAB, CAAC, CFCA.

Has any one done this with engine code CFCA?

A bit more detail might help, I don't think the engine code will stop it working.
What is it not liking? what errors are you getting? are you doing a t6 if so what spec? which steering wheel do you have

My Steering wheel has no buttons, can i upgrade to one with buttons?

i know there is many posts on steering wheels but everyone seems to mention you need to remove old buttons and put them in to the new steering wheel, my problem is i have no buttons to begin with, so does that mean no buttons for me? or does it mean i can only get a steering wheel that has been removed from a t6 ( with buttons )

thanks for your help

My MFWS cruise control upgrade is now completed. Many thanks to all, in particular @chang1 for providing the initial information, and to @car-help-uk for pointing me in the right direction for my question below:

I started with a 2015 T6 with Euro 6 engine (CXGB), no cruise control, plastic wheel

Parts used:
MWFS - 7E0 419 091 M
Wiring kit - From Kufatec
Repair wire 1 - 000 979 009 E (T41 connector end)
Repair wire 2 - 000 979 026 E (T10 connector end)
0.5mm2 wire to connect the repair wires together
Tesa wiring loom fabric tape

The Kufatec wiring kit was quite useful in that it came with a set of instructions on how to install everything. But I found the connector for the horn was the wrong type (I reused the existing one), and the wire for the power supply was too short and needed to be lengthened.

Time taken:
Longer than I thought. Getting access to the T10 connector in the E-box or the BCM connectors wasn't exactly quick or easy. Would have been about 7 hours all together, but this was my first attempt trying something like this.

Coding:
Coded the ECU and BCM using VCDS. Seemed to go well so got excited and took the van for a test drive, buttons for stereo etc working but cruise control wasn't. I reconnected VCDS and there was a cruise control fault on the ECU - implausible cruise control signal. Cleared the fault and bingo, cruise control was working! I guess this fault would have appeared when the ECU was configured for cruise control before the BCM, something to be aware of.

Very happy with the upgrade. I learnt a lot about the van, and it's now a dream to drive it on the autobahn!

Can anyone help me with where or how i buy the "2 wires" i apparently need get my T6 startline to work with a basic T6 steering wheel that has volume and phone control?

Am i correct in thinking i need a certain 2 wires?
I also understand i then need the wheel to be coded to the van? who how or where would i go about this? vw? a garage?

i appreciate some of the info is here but everyone seems to speak in abbreviated code i do not understand lol my mechanical knowledge is not strong.

Thanks for your help.

ALL the info required to do this job is contained within this thread .. really good write up by Chang1

Pauly will sell you repair wires with pre_crimped ends .. wheel to light switch + wheel to BCM

You will need someone with VCDS or Carista to 'tick' some application codes .. as to tell the van you now have a MFSW fitted .. people on the forum offer this service .. you can ask if anyone near you will provide

Good Luck

@Pauly Are you still doing the wires as I could do with a set too.

I'm fitting a standard T6 MFSW with the cruise on the wheel to a 2019 Shuttle, in case that make a difference to the wire config.

Thanks

Hi, to be clear you need more than just 2 wires. I used the Kufatec wiring kit that I linked to in my previous post. This kit comes with the additional wires that need to be added into the steering wheel loom. It also has the wire that goes to the Body Control Module (BCM), and the wire for the +12V supply. My van didn’t have cruise installed, so I needed an additional wire to the Engine Control Unit (ECU).

The 2 repair wires that I mentioned in my previous post are the VW part numbers for the connectors that need to be added into the plugs. The repair wires have a crimped connector on 1 end only, so you need to join them together with some additional wire.

I suggest you download a copy of the VW wiring diagrams before you start. To be honest I found the descriptions on here a bit confusing at first too, but became much clearer after seeing a copy of the drawings. T10/T41 etc is the name of a plug in the wiring diagrams

Having read through this thread I see that most don't have CCS but what about if you do have CCS, apart from the ACCS. Is the Mk7 Golf R flat bottom MFSW a straight replacement of the current MFSW.

My van is a 2018 highline with the CCS, volume up/down and track forward/backwards buttons etc.

Have a look elsewhere on the forum .. other MFSW threads .. I think Dellmassive has done a Ccs wheel swap standard wheel with flat bottom G7 wheel .. it may have been DSG with paddleshttps://www.t6forum.com/threads/mfsw-golf-gtd-mkvii-dsg-paddles-how-i-done-it.9043/

Cheers @Mocko1962 the search didn't bring that thread up. Thinking i will google searches from now on.

Ok, I've decided to have a go myself as this thread is really good.
Got all the bits on order. I'll change the stalks later if it all goes to plan.
It's the coding that worries me.

A couple of questions:-
1 - If I get all the wiring in and steering wheel fitted, will there be any issues driving it with the wheel not coded in? (If the coding takes me a while)
2 - The Kauftec instructions talk about replacing the 'coil spring'. What is this, and is it necessary?
3 - I don't have any cruise currently, so assume I follow the 'cruise not available' sections 15 & 18 and the coding looks more which is to be expected.

I'll download the wiring schematics at work next week, but how easy is it to ID the different connectors? Especially the one under the battery? Really not looking forward to that one...

Many Thanks

Q2 above means the 'clock spring'. Probably lost in translation. Any need to replace this? Do I meed one with more contacts in?
Thanks
