Interesting.....I actually had to replace a faulty factory Varta battery (that's a tongue twister) about 10 days ago, I upgraded to an AGM stop start and coded the change in VCDS with no issues. The new battery has been in and working with no issues for the last ten days, I've also been checking the battery Measuring blocks in VCDS on a daily basis and all the stats have been excellent. I agree there's no smoke without fire but very strange that the bulb light should take ten days to come up on a newer\better\healthier battery than what was in place before. Makes me think it's not related but a good shout....?

Hoping to replace the H4 units this weekend to the H7's, gone for the following:
H7 Osram Cool Blue Intense Next Gen Halogen Bulbs for main and dipped.
Twenty20 Elegance Canbus LED's 12V W21W for DRL's
Twenty20 Endurance 12V 5W W5W Long Life for side lights

Fingers crossed that no faults come up.

Looking for a bit of advice/help please.
I want to change my headlights from the rubbish H4 to H7 version. I've managed to buy a cheapish genuine passenger side one from eBay with part number 7E2 941 005 A. Looking for the drivers side now but do I need to get one with an A part number at the end to match or does it not make too much difference?

Interested to see how you get on with the Cool Blues. I’ve got some H7 units to go in but not decided on bulbs yet

The later ones 1006 for the other side may have a different DRL bulb holder, but shouldn't make a difference

Will hopefully let you know ASAP, not looking forward to replacing these in the Baltic conditions forecast tomorrow

Any tips on getting this last trim clip to push in?

All done n dusted.
Cheers all for the advice and pointing me in the right direction.
Approx 3hrs start to finish, complete novice and never attempted anything like this before. No warning lights, just plug n play.
This forum is the dogs danglies
Can't wait for it to get dark now, want to see the difference.

Just done the upgrade - super straight forward thanks to the advice here. Just in Carista to set the dip to stay on with main beam, and I can’t see the option?

Also now have a pair of H4s that are free if someone wants them. Cheers

Don't think Carista has that option.
You'll need VCDS.

I went with Osram Cool Blue Intense for the dipped and main and Twenty20 for the DRL. The LEDs are canbus friendly but if your battery is low will give a bulb out warning. This clears on the next start when the battery is back to normal.

Appreciate you may not have been through it yet but has anyone with LED bulbs ever had an issue come MOT time?
In theory they aren’t road legal but are any testers actually going to notice?
Love the idea of LEDs for colour and brightness and reduced power consumption but MOTs always make me feel stressed and no way I want to be fiddling around swapping bulbs just for one day.

I’ve not done an MOT with the T6 and the LED DRL yet, but had no problems with a similar setup on one of the cars. The LEDs are behind a diffuser so not visible or dazzling. I think they are unlikely to be an issue as they look no different to many other original LED DRL. LED in the H7 dipped beam is another matter though as they are clearly visible and a specific MOT failure.

That’s true. Shame the H7s aren’t legal although I can see why with low quality versions. Philips though have some incredible quality headlight bulb replacements using LED. I guess they’d be alright behind a projector lens.
