Head unit upgraded, USB in dash now dead

Hi all
Makes sense that as the new head unit doesn’t utilise the round USB connector that the dash USB is now dead, but what can I retrofit to get it powered again? Only want power as head unit is RCD360. Thanks.

If the new headunit has a USB port on the rear, this should do the trick

I may well have answered my own question. Just need to find a cheap 12v USB converter and plug this into the cable to provide power.

Can I ask, you put this between the yellow plug that was connected to the back of the headunit, and the male USB end in the new headunit, and it retains the factory dash usb function?

Update: it doesn’t work. I need to pull the dash apart to chase the cable. I thought it just ran to the head unit but looks like there’s something else in there.

Hi, Rob. I’m going to attempt something similar on my 2019 T6 Caravelle. I replaced the composition colour with a RCD330plus rear usb and hooked up a wireless CarPlay dongle. But want to power up the factory usb slot infront of the passenger seat. I would actually love to find a dual usb that fits in the same slot.

What did you land up doing? I am trying to keep it as OEM look as possible.
