T6 right hand actuator control arms custom made in aluminium

I have been through many plastic ones, done the recalibration many times with all sensors reading correctly but Still breaking arms, so I had enough and designed and made my own from aluminium,

These have been tested on my own van for a number of weeks now in changing conditions, ie. Hot and cool wet weather so plenty of actuations without moving the problem else where in the system.

They are not cheap I'll admit at £32.50 posted, but machining in such small numbers I'm litterally selling them at cost price!

Hi Not sure if my earlier message was sent to you correctly. I was enquiring whether you still have one available please?
Thanks

Have you got a contact number? Thanks.

Sorry, I haven't been particularly active on the forum last couple of weeks,

I sold the last one I had in stock to Bilbo67 but if there is enough demand I can enquire about having some more made, in such small numbers the cost is quite high so I will speak with my machinist and discuss volumes and quantities.

Has anyone got one of these or used one? Do they work?
I’ve replaced mine with a new plastic one and broken again.
So very interested in one of these
Thanks

I have had a fair bit of interest in these so I have commissioned a new batch to be made,

They should be available for end of next week,

Larger batch has meant the price came down so updated price is £27 posted. Once I have them in my hands I'll update this post, I don't want to promise anything until I physically have them in my hands.

Thanks

Dom

Sounds great, I'm sure your effort will be appreciated by all of us T6ers affected by this design failure. Thanks, Niall.

Thank you - yes I’d like one as well please (assuming it is indeed the replacement for the plastic one pictured above!)… cheers!

I’d be careful with changing materials. A quick google shows plastic has a considerable different thermal expansion rate than metal. While in higher temperatures this might not be a problem as the plastic gear in the actuator will expand quicker than the metal arm. In lower temperatures, you might find that the plastic gear in the actuator contracts quicker than the metal arm. This will result in increased stresses and may break the gear inside the actuator.

I appreciate your concern, you are not wrong, this would only become an issue though if the fit is greater than an a H7 h6, which given a swing of 35 degrees C would go from about 10mics interference to 1mic clearance given a snug fit at 20 degrees C. I do recommend some form of adhesive is applied to the star just to cover off the extreme heat scenarios.

That said,

I have 10off available now.

I will message the people who have messaged privately already.
