Hi
Just wanting to pick your brains. I am planning a under slung heater, leisure battery and pop top. I use the back of my van for my motorcycles and camping so not full camper conversion. My dilemma is I want to keep the double seat with a swivel, but I want to install a LB and heater. I have seen the b pillar ducting has anyone ducted the heater any other way as the leisure battery will be under the drivers seat?
Thanks
James

I can’t help but I use my van for motorbikes and sleep in it when racing. I’m also thinking of a lb and heater so let me know how you get on

Can’t you put the LB under the double passenger seat? Don’t forget you will have to find space for a B2B charger too.

I want to make the double seat a swivel and everywhere I read says that it's not possible or hasn't been possible to do with the swivel plate?

I am only wanting 12v power in my van, so was hoping to fit battery, fuse box , and ctek 250 under the drivers seat?

Ahh right, I’m not au fait with the double seat swivel, so can’t help you there. I’m surprised though. Ours is under the single swivelled passenger seat. Must be a heck of a mechanism

Yeah from what I can gather the double sits underneath and spins the whole chair. The single sits between the the box frame and chair so it is just spinning the chair itself

It can but for best performance you want the charger as Near the aux battery as possible.

You’re right in that the whole box/seat mech spins on the double so wires inside aren’t possible.

I have a leisure battery under my driver’s seat with a CTEK. The diesel heater is under slung. The outlet for the heater pops up through the floor behind the driver’s seat.

If you just have a single AGM battery of 100Ah or less then I’d go for an Ablemail 15A dc-dc charger.
I have fitted Ctek’s and the Ablemail is better and far more appropriate for your application. If you want to add solar at a later date I’d just fit a saparate MPPT.
Ablemail products are manufactured in the UK and they use top end components.

I fit them to all my van conversions now, including my own personal day to day van.

You’ll find most converters don’t understand 12v electrics and often over spec the DC-DC Charger or don’t even bother fitting one in the first place.

Whilst in lockdown I’m thinking of installing a Planar or similar in the OEM location under the van and ideally will bring the outlet up under the driver seat.

I do however already have my Xtreme 110 AGM battery, ablemail DCDC, Vitron 12/7 charger, and small 12v fuse board under the seat.

Before I start taking everything apart, can anyone confirm if it is indeed possible to get the above kit and heater outlet all under the seat which also has a swivel base?

I cannot move anything to the passenger side as this is also a single swivel and I have my 240v kit under there with tyre kit and other bits and pieces.

If possible then any photos would help a great deal to save me trying multiple options.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve got a 110ah lead acid and a CTEK 250SA under there. I’d couldn’t find the room for the outlet integrated into the seat base. Mine comes up through the floor just behind the seat, and has a swivel vent in the floor between the driver’s seat and the fridge.

I have extreme battery, ctek charger, small fuse box and the heater vent under drivers seat. Loads of room with mine , battery is mounted front to back.

Thank both and the front to back battery placement is one of the options I was going to try. Is your battery stood up or on its side?
