Hey all,

I'm Dan 36yo Dad of 2 lads and dog also a mountain biker living in Teesside. I am an industrial spark by trade, currently working as a windfarm manager in the energy sector

I have recently bought a T6.1 4motion Highline SWB 150PS. Loving it, although it is bitter-sweet. A new role at work meant they would fund a need for a 4WD to do the job so took the opportunity to get another van as mine was getting a bit old to start making a 4 berth.

which brings me to my next van. I have managed to keep my old girl a T5.1 poverty spec start line that i absolutely love. It is a 2012 and build from a van monster POS to a 2 tone day van perfect for a weekend with the crew on the bikes! but life goes on and isn't the most comfortable for 3 and 4 is a no-go.

The T5.1 will be for sale soon. I'm maxed out on the toys front.

Anyway. needing quite a versatile layout on this build and money is a little tight at the moment so glad to be hear and already found some brilliant threads to help out with my first problem of getting enough seats in to take us all out in one trip! The titan bed vari mount is looking like the ideal but the caravelle rails might sicken me off the price when i get a figure.

Anyway Hello! Hope i can be of assistance with local knowledge to people in my area or visitors and a bit of mechanical and electrical tips and tricks where i can.

Hi and welcome

So, what sort of van are you getting?

Hi JOG,

i have got it. T6.1 4motion highline SWB 150PS. 2021. Hard to find a competitive priced 4motion that is non BiTDI.

Ah, that is a very nice base for a day van or conversion. I’m biased as I’ve only had Californias but I’d seriously consider putting California rails and bed/bench seating in there. They’ll easily accommodate the family travelling (we have two boys and two dogs!)

When your working, just slide the bench forward and you’ll have acres of room for your work gear

would love to but seems the rails are 2K plus. This mobiframe set up i have found is also 2K for rails but its the full floor, insulated and M1 rated via a bonding install method. saves working/crying around the diff installing the strengtheners etc (if that's needed with cali rails - still reading up)

I have Reimo rails in mine, as Titan said it’s too much of a pain to put theirs on a 4motion. The mobiframe looks like the best option now, you get the custom cut composite floor too which saves loads of work.
