Hello,

Big fan of Transporters always wanted one since I was a lad! Recently had the opportunity to grab a T6 at a good deal so took the plunge!
(2020 T6 40k miles)

After a few 100 miles had the oil overfill light appear. (I bought this from a friend who advised this light was appearing on and off for him and he was advised not to worry about it by a VW mechanic)

Thought best to make sure, so I had a sample of the oil sent away and tested, and have been advised there is diesel is in the oil. See attached test results.

I am planning to have a local diesel fuel injector specialist take a look to diagnose the issue. However was wondering if this was a common issue?

Also is anyone else’s T6 side windows leaking?

T6.1 Reduce Oil warning

I’ve read some threads on this but was hoping for some advice. The reduce oil warning just came on in our t6.1. We are currently in Italy and the temp here is over 30 and has been for nearly 2 weeks so is this why the warning has come on? We’ve a big drive on Monday so wondering if best option...

There is always diesel in the oil. Its an inescapable phenomenon that fuel will contaminate the lube on any IC engine.

"<10%" on it's own doesn't tell us anything remotely useful. That could mean 9.9%, which is worrying, or 0.5% which isn't.

I like the way they urge you to retest so they get another payday.

The overfill light is a common issue on these units and it is almost always not related to oil dilution - mine certainly wasn't. Make yourself a cuppa and do a forum search.

PS - my side windows don't leak.

Mine either. Haven’t since owning the van, even when I pressure wash the seals directly as they hold a bit of algae.
They aren’t THQ.

Is it only flush fit ones that tend to leak? Mine are recessed (which I would have thought would make MORE likely to leak), but no leaks noted yet

Yeah it’s OEM flush-fit sliders that have a reputation for leaking

Hello, hope everyone has had a great Christmas!! Further to my last I’ve noticed a build up of a snot coloured gunk in the oil refill. I believe this might be further indication of diesel/water in the oil? Oil from the dipstick looks as it should however and the sample was taken from the dipstick access in the sump.

Appreciate everyone’s advise and help so far.
I’m a bit worried about this one if I’m honest

Cream gunk on oil cap

Can anyone advise what the following might be? Topping up the oil today on my T6 and seen this cream gunk / slime on the oil cap 67 plate 204 sportline - 36k miles and I have had it for the last 3.5k. Not the very mechanical looking to check if this is normal or should I be worried. Cheers
