Quick question for the experts regarding the "dual charging" while at the campsite. Our van came with factory fitted LB under the passenger seat, which gets trickle charged from SB when driving (I think via simple VW factory fitted charger, sorry I don't know the exact details of the set-up).
We have noticed that we cannot switch the internal campervan lights while driving as the LB being charging via SB. As soon as the engine is off you can hear a little click and then LB gauge flicks and indicates the battery status (red, yellow or green-if full). Obviously there is some sort of switch controlling this charging process.
At home, when I plug a battery charger into SB I have noticed that the LB also gets trickle charged after the SB is full. While it's charging this way it almost behaves as during the drive (no internal lights can come on and the gauge on battery status is in off/red position, which goes into full/green when I stop charging).
So, when we get to the campsite I intend to connect to EHU as normal to charge LB, and run a short extension cable (plugged in 3 pin plug inside the van through the window) and connect to a charger/maintainer for the SB, so we don't get caught out with a depleted SB.
Given this factory charging set-up for SB and LB, could there be any conflict when both batteries are changed at the same time via different sources given that SB trickle charges LB either when driving or being physically charged via charger when stationary?
So, technically the LB will have two charge feeds (once the SB is full and it will start trickling into LB) and via EHU. Just don't want to mess something up doing it like this (double source charging).?
Sorry if this I a stupid or long question (just trying to give a full picture of our set-up) and I sincerely hope that you can understand what I am trying to ascertain. Many thanks in advance.
