Help to contact Jamie at Duchy Banded Wheels [Sorted]

Sounds like best bet is if anyone is in the area go have a look. There will be a good reason for it all but if for some reason he has gone bust (which I doubt) then if your wheels are in his property then it might be difficult getting them back.

Unit 2 Jewell house, Redruth, Tr151dg, United Kingdom is address I believe.
I don’t suppose anyone on the forum is around this way that could check it out for me? I’ve just confirmed his been paid for the wheels.

Sounds like he isn’t letting anyone down so maybe allow him some privacy?
To be fair he’s never been the best with communication, which is a big shame because the ‘product’ he puts out is top drawer. I’m sure nobody is trying to pry into his private life, but when he has business to deal with…. business is business???

Agreed, in a way, I was thinking about ordering another set from Jamie, however I doubt I will be doing that now. Unless things seem to get back to normal, even then there will be a nagging doubt.

Fair point and I didn’t mean to sound like I was “lecturing” anyone

Hi everyone. I’m in a bit of a predicament and this is my last shout for help as I don’t know what to do.

I bought a set of banded Amarok wheels off Jamie at duchy about a month ago, spot on guy and service as per everyone else’s experience. Long story short, and after fitting new driveshafts and bushes amongst other things, I have discovered the front wheels are causing a huge shake on the van. They balance ok but don’t run true, they throw a fair bit. I fitted them to a mates van last night and confirmed it .

My issue is now that duchy seems to have disappeared as a business and I have no other wheels or money to get a thing else. Im really stuck and panicking as they weren’t cheap and I have no way of contacting Jamie or know what’s going on. I didn’t receive an invoice either.

Please, please, does anyone here know Jamie on a personal level that could possibly ask him if he could help me. I fully understand it’s looking like the business has closed up but I don’t know anyone else that can help and I’m left at the moment with some wheels that aren’t worth anything like what I paid , along with a very shakey van ☹️

Thanks, Rhys
Hi,

Did you get this sorted meanwhile? I also bought a set of banded amarok's from him.
When balancing the wheels there was a noticeable wobble on 2 of them.
Driving them always has given me a 'judder' in the front.
When I contacted him he said the wobble that i saw during balancing was 'normal' and shouldn't affect driving....
Since i'm from belgium and i bought the wheels prior to brexit, i didn't bother in trying to sort this.

Recently bought a pair of second hand aloys and swapped the tyres. They drive great.
The steels are sitting in the garage without tyres, ready to be checked by a welder overhere.
I hope they can be 'rescued' because I still like the look more than the alloys.

Greetings

Lovely van. Good luck with the wheels.

Hi, I had a bit more luck but still in the same predicament. Jamie was slowly bringing the business to a close when I purchased mine (I wouldn’t have bought them if knew this to be honest). It has been nothing but trouble and I’m literally feel sick inside at the money I’ve potentially lost. I too am hoping I can salvage something. I use mine daily and am living with the optional extra of massage seat and steering wheel.
So my story goes - Bought a set, they, like yours, balanced but wobbled like mad on the machine. This caused a huge shake on the van. I managed to get in touch and in all fairness (it took a few more months) he replaced my two front wheels for me at his cost. Then no sooner had they arrived all contact was lost. These are better but I still have a bad shake. I have since put a friends standard set of wheels on the van and just as yours it drives great. The one rear which is 9.5” wobbles as well I think, not sure if it’s the tyre though. I’m very stuck for time and money (these have cost me a small fortune so far with garage costs swapping and balancing also been replacing drive shafts and stubs along with other parts) so my next move is to swap my rear 9.5’s with my other 9’s to create a square setup and see if that is any better. I also want to try different tyres but I am slowly loosing the will. I’m close to selling the whole set of 6 with tyres being open and saying there is an issue, it could be one wheel or two and could be the tyres. I’m just at my whits end and had enough. I bought them as my first set of banded wheels (with many friends saying don’t do it) on an awesome reputation and feel I’ve been let down massively and left in a bit of a rut. When I was in contact with Jamie he did say it was one of the reasons he was closing up was the standard new wheels weren’t properly straight from factory and then causing some of the wheels to come back wobbling and he was loosing too much sorting them out. Guess I’ve just bought at the wrong time and place.
It could be a minor thing with mine now as I said I have 6 and a suspect tyre now but I’m looking at wheels as I type as I genuinely just want them gone now.
Sorry to hear you are in the same boat. If your guy can save your set please let me know

Hi there,
He also told me that the quality of the wheels he starts with, has worsened over time.
That could be true, but he should have double checked the wheels before processing and selling them.

Anyways he's closed and we have 'shitty' wheels :-(
I still think he's a really good welder etc. looking at the wheels.
I'll try and keep you updated.

Greetings
