Hi, newbie here, i have a 2014 T30 Hline 140 tdi Transporter , having not been used for over the winter , when i got in the van the clutch pedal had sunk to the floor, and it wouldnt start? Thought that might be something to do with the clutch pedal so managed to bleed the clutch up but it still won't start? Battery fully charged, noticed a couple of odd things, the interior lights wont come on? no heater plug display on the dash, if i leave the ignition on it starts bleeping, engine management light appears and the auxiliary fan blasts out? any ideas

Happened to me ... it was the slave cylinder which effectively means a new clutch/flywheel since it has to be stripped for access. Cost me £1000 in June 2023 done by VW trained mechanic in an independent garage.

Well I can't actually remember ..... but it must have because I was able to drive it in to the garage although starting off and changing gears was interesting

Two separate issues.

Clutch slave cylinder gone.(Most likely)

And the no start...... Does it detect the press pedal on the dash to start?

It's the break on my DSG.

To be honest and I do sound daft but I can't remember as to wether you have to press the clutch pedal for it to start? there are no signs on the dash display?

Did this cause it not to start?
it can indeed, becauswe you need to depress the clutch to start and if theres a big leak and the system has no hydraulic prtessure and the switch won't activate to tell the van to start.

Slave or master cylinder, probably slave.

I'm 90% sure it's the clutch pedal on a manual.

Try the battery disconnect and see if the other issues clear...

.

I have tried the battery disconnect but to no avail? I thought I had to press the clutch first but couldn't remember ! (I always as a matter of fact depress the clutch on all manual cars) The clutch did bleed up ok and does feel good !

Yeah, it came up with: 01314 ECM fault, 01316 Brake control module, 00778 Steering angle sensor, U111100 function linitation due to missing message, and U112100 Databus missing message

Yeh it’s the clutch pedal that needs pushed in to start a manual

Maybe mice have got to your wiring over the winter?
If you do a search for mice on the forum you will find others that have had a problem.
Just a thought.

The battery disconnect? Did you try shorting the battery cables together? After of course completely disconnecting.
