Hi I'm Solow Suspension, here to help.

Im running original Solow’s on my T32, think front is on highest setting and back is down a bit. I need to change my tyres as getting a bit of scrubbing on a bumps. Drives really well on them though, much better than my original suspension!

Glad you're please with the set up. The van looks great. As for the scrubbing on bumps, there is a small screw at the top of the wheel arch where the wing joins the arch liner. Have you removed that? This may be a simple fix. You then just pop the plastic liner the other side of the tab the screw was in and fold it up out the way. We'd do this as standard on any low or air install. I hope this helps.

Yeah the screw is out and the tab is folder up. Its just the tyres being 255/45/19 but im going to go to a 245/45/19 to see if that helps.

Hi I'm Andy from Solow Suspension. I'm not here to try and sell you anything or tell you our suspension is the best. People with our suspension installed do that for us. I'm just here to help and answer any questions. I have nothing bad to say about anyone else's suspension, regardless to what i think of it as thats really unprofessional. I am here to stop the Constant Recurring Slander on the Solow, Bilstein and Twin Adjust Projekt range.
Pleased you're onboard now!

There has been some shade thrown on machined top mounts, i.e. they introduce a dangerous weak point and possibly introduce additional road noise as less of the rubber mount/bearing is absorbing upward force.

Have you ever heard of machined mounts failing? Or can that myth be debunked?

Thanks!

Hello, I've never ever heard of one failing and i know of hundreds of vans with them on. The plates should be T6 plates and installed with T6 top rubbers. (even on a T5) The idea came about years ago before there were lower coilovers on the market. As long as they are genuine plates, machined the correct amount, there shouldn't be any issues.

Nowadays though, you can just get lower coilovers like the Solow NSL or LOW so there's no need to fit a machined top mount plate. I'd even consider a small hob mob on a T26/T30 hub as a way to get slightly lower before faffing around replacing top mount plates.

I hope this helps

Hello Andy from Transporter HQ   You don’t fool us!

I‘m running STX wound all the way down at the front and STX springs with your Powerflex adjuster deletes at the back.

I am thinking about changing to NSLs which, I assume, would mean the fronts might be abit softer as they are not at their limit like the STX currently are?

Haha, you got me!!! Jokes aside i'm not here in disguise being Solow Suspension. I've just joined to answer suspension related questions, as I've been told about lots of lies being said on here about Solow, Bilstein and Twin Adjust Projekt. I Couldn't Really Stand any more so had to come here to let people know the truth. If i join as Transporter HQ, i'd spend all day answering questions about everything Transporter related. :D

To answer your question, yes! We have a habit in the Transporter world to buy suspension and set it as low as it will go for looks. The trouble is its not designed to run like that. It shouldn't be set that low. Either wind your ST's up and enjoy a more comfy ride (its a decent suspension after all) or go for a set up thats designed to go lower, like the NSL you mentioned.

I hope this helps

Andy (possibly from Transporter HQ) ;)

Two cheap digs at CRS now, how many more? If you’ve got an issue with another firm I suggest you take it up with them off line rather than use this forum to score points

Hi Andy, would you recommend LOW or NSL coil overs for those wanting to lower 95-100mm then?

I've currently got the original LOW coil overs set to their highest setting on my camper build. I am very happy with the look however find them a little too soft and dare I say perhaps under dampened which may be due to the weight. Someone else on another recent thread (perhaps the one which prompted this one?) was saying they felt they were a little soft on a camper and had changed the rear springs out.

I've not measured but expect I may be lower than 100mm due to the weight but certainly can't go any lower with 255 45 18 load rated tyres particularly the fronts.

I realise there are other coil overs available that will give a firmer ride but I really don't want to sacrifice the look and almost without exception everyone who has the LOW seems really happy with them.

How do the NSL therefore compare when run at their lowest with the LOW at their highest?

I've tried the direct approach before, many times. I get told it will stop, it then just appears on another platform I don't use (this forum for example) I'll never have a dig at anyone else's products, thats extremely unprofessional. I'm just here to answer questions, defend, and tell the truth about the ones I've worked with and believe in. Look back through all the posts relating to these products, this forum has been used hundreds of time over to "score points" over Solow, Bilstein, Twin Adjust Projekt and frankly anything else thats not in favour to said party

I would go with LOW set high over NSL set low. I hope that make sense. Its a fine balance between looks and comfort but going really low will always have its sacrifices other than going on AiR. What its impossible to do, is factor in every van type into spring and damper development. Empty SWB 102 manual will be very different to a LWB 4motion DSG full camper for example. It would be an interesting experiment to try the NSL rear spring with your current us set. It would all work and fit as they use the same adjust platform.

Its worth noting, you may find your wheel and type combo could also effect this.

Do you realise the irony of what you have written there?
I've got zero allegiance to either company or any brand but the constant negative comments about certain brands by the trader that you are defending was getting boring at best. It's made me not want to open/read certain suspension related threads as it was too predictable what was going to be droned on about, one or two times maybe ok, but every single time was just tedious.
