How long for a balljoint? T5

Silly question, but how long would you expect a balljoint to last on a T5 roughly? Less than 5k miles a year. I've just been told it's shot after a year (I'm not saying I don't believe them). Is that normal?? FAI brand if that matters.

Thanks!

Genuine or high quality pattern parts, a long time.

Budget aftermarket stuff, not long.

FAI is budget stuff of majnly Chinese manufacture, with a bitmof a mixed rep. Nevertheless, if it genuinely has failed, and assuming you've not been abusing the van in some way, yours is faulty in some way to being with if it has failed in less a year/5k miles.

Yea I don't think I've used FAI before. I'm going to pick up a different brand tomorrow. I'll do both sides anyway seeing as I need to swap out the other driveshaft.

Apologies for this post but couldn’t resist when I saw the title. Answer about 20 minutes. Ball joint in question shiny new titanium hip joint.
Went into hospital yesterday for left hip total replacement. Back on the ward having been told the op had gone well waiting for the epidural to defrost Mrs vanderlust moved the blanket over my feet and my left foot was pointing in totally strange direction and my left leg seemed to be a inches shorter the right. Bugger it’s going to be some job for the physio to sort this I thought. Fast forward today and after 3 attempts to get me on my feet each time resulting in passing out I had the feeling the day shift ward team had put me on the naughty step. Got taken to X-ray for normal post op pictures and was a touch surprised on getting back to the ward to find a team of six with slider board and sheets to get me back into bed . Turns out that somehow between theatre recovery room and ward my new hip had dislocated the ball now some six inches north of the socket. A bit shocked but vindicated that my place on the naughty step totally not my fault.
The theatre team were kept on and back for second op. They did an amazing job manoeuvring me around to get prepared as the dislocated leg was a touch painful to move. Now back on the ward waiting to defrost, had a look and glad to see everything looking like it’s in the right place. Phew. Hopefully the answer to the question will be at least ten years.
