Insurance Companies

None agreed value. Adrian Flux offer it for an additional £15 having bought the policy! You send in 7 photos. But what use is it after buying the policy if they only agree a lower value than you want. You may as well save £15 and send the photos when you claim, and argue it then.
I dont know who did the conversion originally, only who added the pop up roof. JustKampers were £408
Paying £15 for an AV policy is an absolute no-brainer - it could save you £1000s in the event of a total-loss (depending, of course, on the variance between the value you agree and the market price).

But they want me to take out the policy, and then they will decide on an agreed price. If its not high enough, I am stuck with it or pay hefty cancellation fees

@zippy1148 Surly if your buying a converted van for £xxx you supply the AV company with said pictures of insides and roof up plus copy of receipt for new van and that's how they arrive at the AV that's how I've done mine fore the last 6 years

I recently changed my insurance over to Adrian Flux, I paid £75 for an additional policy with Trinity Lane insurance for an agreed value. It was all handled very quickly online, with my AV agreed by them well within the cooling off period. 7 pictures as you say, all uploaded online. If you can get that extra insurance for £15 you're doing well, and I want a refund!

The £15 is an add on with the policy I was quoted. They do a stand alone extra policy for £75 - very confusing.
One of my issues is that I am buying it from a friend at a discounted price, so I want an agreed value based on what similar vehicles are on the market

Totally agree AV is a good thing and likewise getting it for £15 instead of standalone at £75. But the premium from JK for me overall was higher than i could get elsewhere and the AV is not an endorsement to the policy they offered.

I can pay the £75 to them or Trinity House and still have a lower premium that going through JK. Their sales team tried to make out like it was integral in their package.

in fairness to CaravanGuard they did stress that the market value in their policy is a max price and suggested i go test the market which i did. still like to bolt on an AV

There was no haggling with my AV, I told them what I wanted and they agreed it via Trinity Lane. Just have a little justification with other vans for sale to back up your figure. My dealings with them have been bordering on pleasant!

Thanks guys. So no one has any horror stories about Adrian Flux, and in particular an Ageas policy?
Mr Flux looked after me beautifully on my other policy with them for a motorcycle. One occasion I was 'taken out' by an off duty Taxi driver, the other occasion was when my bike was stolen from under me in Birmingham city centre. Both occasions they went the extra mile, I got a new conservatory out of the Taxi driver incident! Having a camera attached to my lid on the bike made the difference, and would recommend front and rear cameras for anyone with a vehicle of any description.
If it's your own silly fault then you just make sure that's the day your cameras don't work, I've been told....

Ageas has 84% 4* and 5* reviews on Trustpilot (though this is for all lines of business, not just motor insurance). Whilst not an immaculate score, given the public's many misconceptions about insurance, I doubt you'll find much better feedback for any other insurer.

As I think I said on here before, I've no complaints whatsoever about the way Ageas managed my recent and quite large claim last year. I'll have to see how things go when renewal time comes along but I would be willing to pay a bit extra knowing how good they have been in the past. You never really know how good an insurer is until you need to make a claim.

Just in the process of having to find insurance after Brentacre would no longer cover me. tried all the usual places - A-plan, A Flux, Just Kampers.
They were all between £1380 - £1750 - this is going from £500 last year this was a kick in the nuts.
A friend of mine works in insurance and recommended going on Quotezone.co.uk/van-insurance/modified.

I’ve managed to get a price of £1075 through One Click.
Still double but better than the usual guys.

(This is on a 2018 T28 doing 20000 miles for work)
Why? Did they give any reason? Mine went up a little but…

It does seem a heavy price to bear, are you trackered and immobilised? On the drive, in the road? Any claims?
On my Drive, No Claims Ever, 5 years no claims.
No tracker or immobiliser.
Gonna do some playing around on comparison sites to see if i can find anything that can bring it down for next year

I'm sure a meta-trak or Ghost could make a difference. I wouldn't have thought Milk n Cheese is a too high risk zone?

AFAIK, the Ghost isn't Thatcham certified. Doesn't mean it's not a great product, just that it's unlikely to attracts an insurance discount... unless, of course, you know different.

I am as dim as ditch water, but my insurance companies both insisted on an S5 type system.
