Hi I'm going to purchase a T5 shortly the only internal alterations it has is a rock and roller bed, it has two side sliding doors and a back double door. Is it a van it campervan insurance I need please

Depends on how you intend to use the van.

It's easiest, initially, to try to insure it as a van or a dual-purpose vehicle, as these are catered for by the generic comparison websites and you can [relatively] easily obtain quotations from a wide range of insurers. If you can't get a decent price there, you could then try the specialist campervan brokers, but that takes a lot more effort as you have to ring each individual broker for a price.

As above, wherever you try, be sure to declare all the mods and be honest about your intended use, otherwise you risk having your policy voided and being in a world of pain when you next try to get insurance.

It it is just that, a van, then van insurance is indeed just the ticket.

The issue here is not the nature or rhe base vehicle, but rather that of the modification he hades made in installing a rock n roll bed. That has the potential to make it a camper in the eyes of some insurers, and the only way to be sure is to ask the prospective insurer.

Am dreading my renewal. It was a bare @rse panel van when I insured it last year through Howdens (zero NCB as my NCB is already being utilised on another vehicle) I have converted it to a camper barring poptop, fridge and electrics. Am assuming the value will have gone up a fair bit and subsequently insurance rate will fly up to suit. It was £975 last year with Howdens...

Some insurers look upon campers more favourably than PVs - value may be higher, but the usage is more to their liking. If you're only part way through the conversion though, you'll probably need to insure it as a conversion in progress.
