Is Carista Evo with pro subscription a waste of money

I bought a Carista Evo for £65 to diagnose a fault with my T6.
I have fault codes 13811 and P242B which indicates exhaust temp sensors.
I paid for twelve months subscription of £60 expecting to get live data on these sensors. This wasn't available.
I hope so hoped to remove speed limit. This was not available.
The only customisation for my T6 were really trivial.
Have other people had the same experience with Carista?
Is the OBD eleven the same?

I bought carista a few years back and was disappointed with the options available for me to play with on our van .

I just used the free month at the start to do any mods I wanted to both the T5 and the Golf. I can get live data through the app for various systems for free still- just can’t modify settings. As you say there isn’t that much to modify on the van anyway. In fact even on the Golf a lot of it was already enabled from factory as it’s the GT spec with a couple of options. Would make more sense to owners who have lesser spec ed cars and want to get stuff the GT has maybe?
I wouldn’t pay for the subscription myself.
Maybe you can rent it out to friends to claw some money back, even if they use beer (saves you buying it!)?

There was no free month to start and probably for very good reasons because there is no way you would pay for the half a dozen extra reading (position of throttle etc).
I feel like I have been scammed out of £125.

Odd. I definitely had a free period of full use. Think it was a month as it took me a while to get round to plugging it in the Golf and it still worked.
Guess they stopped doing that then.

From what I can remember - once you register, you give them the payment details but if you cancel within 30 days then you don't pay - or something like that.
I had the P242B which the dealer sorted out in an hour or so. It seems to be a very common fault and instead of a recall, it might be possible that they are hoping that most vehicles see it past the first 3 years before getting the problem.
If you are handy with such things, there is a cheap vacuum kit you can get that is needed to fix the problem. Can dig up the post if you need it.

Thankyou. If you can find the information that would be great. Thanks

Now you’ve said it that rings a bell. Think I had to go into Google Play and stop the subscription. It was a while ago (he said, trying to convince himself his memory isn’t that bad).

Ah - sorry - it was a P26 error I was harping on about - not P24.
My memory is perfect except when it isn't.
Apologies.
I will now bow out of this conversation and try to leave the room without anyone noticing.

Update
Having spent a £125 I never got any support at trying to read live exhaust gas temperatures. This email was ignored by Carista.
For £125 I got the fault code only.
Carista did refund the subscription and accepted that i had been misled by thier retail sellers who still advertised one month trial subscription which had been withdrawn by Carista.
As a gesture of goodwill they offered a month trial but then failed to implement their offer.
I have since had to pay for someone to use a VCDS system to diagnose the fault.

I got Carista and quickly cancelled the free trial after I realised it was bobbins. Thankfully the dongle has come in handy and I use an app called CarScanner (blue background/white engine). It’s free or a couple of quid to remove the ads but it’s been great on my MK5 Golf, I haven’t plugged it into the Transporter yet but as most of the technology is the same I should imagine it can do most of the things I need it to.
It’s still only basic reading things, you can’t code or anything, but it can read/view just about anything.

Did the carista become a brick after the first month or did you just lose the 'pro' options?
Can I have assumed that I can still read codes even if I pay no subscriptions?

Like I say, you can still use it as a dongle to connect to other apps. Might as well try it with that CarScanner app seems it’s free.

Post please...thanks
