Having a bit of a cold spell here in Northampton and I think I know where some of the warmth might be escaping from our house...

That's the North facing side and this...

...is the side facing the house, I swear Agnes has squeezed a bit closer since being parked but shows the advantages of solid walls and bugger all cavity insulation!

Offside headlight clear and a big fat cataract on the other.

It was certainly a cold one here last night. This morning everything was covered in frost, including the snow  - I kid you not.

-5 down here in the warm SE yesterday morning, it's very rare we get that cold!
Forecast was for -12 here. Not sure if that was the case, but deffo plausible.

It was -4.7°C my side of Northampton when I awoke at 0700hrs, didn't get to zero until 1pm.

Seriously cold this morning, and my fold out mirrors refused to budge until they warmed up. Frost on the inside of the windscreen. However some great views!IMG_5328.jpeg

Gone to a mild + 3.7C according to my outside sensor. The coldest I ever saw it here, was - 17 point something C years ago, had been, ect well below for quite a while river frozen over, land frozen solid. This last lot mild by comparison temps generally minus 1 to minus 4 Deg C. and a little snow and hail. The breeze made it feel cooler than it was.

-4 2days straight for the last 2 mornings in Liverpool. My boss lives just outside Glasgow said his was -7 yesterday.

It's time to defrost. I need to be places.
Diesel heater on, bit of scraping, and started on the botton.

4 hours later I got stuck.on the moors after a dog walk.
At one point it was looking like I was going to be staying the night. Bonus. (obviously that news wasn't taken well by my other half).
I had a nearby pub, views, full water, fridge of beer, fuel, etc.
Until 2 blokes turned up with shovels.
Despite my 'its alright lads' I was free.

Still got 6-8” of snow here and barely been above freezing during the day. Been down at -5 at night. Main roads are fine but untreated side roads are still pretty tricky. Unfortunately it’s all going to melt in the next few days.

I see you're a fellow Redline owner @Stay Frosty . How you getting on with yours?
Got ours at the start of 2019 and apart from various minor faults, expensive servicing at Vindis and Agnes letting us down in France last year it has been an enjoyable journey this far.
I'm thinking here that in our case we're a couple of old duffers who can just decide "that's it we're off!" jump in the camper and shoot off to the seaside for a few days and come back if it starts raining.
Back to the van and the Redline conversion it's really only the leisure electrics that were a bit so so, in particular the Sargent EC160 panel and the installation of a split charge relay on a smart alternator vehicle.
The Rib bed, diesel heater, fridge, lights are all good choices from Redline and swapping out the leisure battery to Lifepo, adding a B2B charger, solar and an inverter has made the camper a bit of an off grid weapon too, all good here.
