It Doesn’t Get Much Sadder

No, because the battery shunt on the van will monitor the solar/dc-dc incoming charge 24/7, as well as any power drain like LED lights etc. . .
On the back of this, can I ask where you connect the solar input for the main battery to (in order to keep the van battery happy)?

Ah, my DC-DC doesn’t, hence the question. I’m
assuming a dedicated MPPT unit for the dedicated panel goes upstream of the positive and negative...?
