T6.1 kick-down pedal

hi all

have a manual 150 kombi 6.1 70 plate
since getting it, i have found myself getting rather annoyed at the kick down accelerator that i didnt have on the previous t6

doesnt feel the same as simply flooring it everywhere and at anytime needed

can this be altered / removed in favour of a straight through stroke on the accelerator pedal?, or is it a full pedal assembly needed?

also, had a map on the previous t6, ( quantum stage 2) and it pulled all the way through the gears, and was actually not a bad drive at all, but this time going for a REVO, as i have heard a lot of Pros for these

would i feel the benefit more, with or without the kick down pedal method?

any answers or info gladly accepted

kris

By "kick down pedal" do you mean the way that it feels like you're pressing the pedal all the way but if push harder it goes past the resistance and there is more travel?
I thought all T6 vans were like this. I wonder why some are and some are not then?

I mean it has the same feature as an auto box

3/4 down feels like to floor
Then it goes past another notch to the floor proper like an auto but with no noticeable difference in power or acceleration
I didn’t think the manuals had that feature and can’t see how it’s meant to work ????

just trying to get round my head round a remap and that feature in a manual box
Surely it would make it jumpy ?

seems rather weird

the last t6 ( 17) plate was a manual n didn’t have it ??
This is a 70 plate 6.1 150 t30 manual

Have you got floor mats fitted?

It’s designed for fuel economy and reduce emissions. It’s to discourage you from using full throttle during normal driving. When you need the full power then you press the pedal harder.

seems logical ( ish)

any ideas on how that will work if its mapped, ie , will i still get the power / torque etc if only running to the point of resistance on the pedal, or will it really not be noticable until the pedal is past the " pussy" push point ??

looking at revo to get it up from 150 as seem sluggish compared to the old t6 beasty :)

Noticed it straight away when I got my manual 150 T6.1 my T6 didn’t have it, mentioned it to the dealer And they were unaware so I plugged VCDS to see if there was any difference. And yes pushing the pedal past the ‘notch’ and it gives full throttle

Thanks for confirming this
thought i was going mad lol!!

main question though, i am wanting to get the revo map stuck on it, and am slightly concerned that the 2 stage pedal will make it slightly awkward to get the best out of the map?, especially considering it is a manual box?

is there a way of " losing" the notch??

To be honest I think you won’t be using that part of the throttle much once it’s mapped... I haven’t looked at changing the throttle to be honest

thats what i was hoping, that i would get the best out of the map before actully going past the notch

still be better if it wasnt there to be honest, im not know for having a 3/4 light right foot lol :)
50-55k+ pa n too much time in the office requires the diligent use of speed lol :)

Trust me I’m nit light footed, but when they are mapped they pick up so much faster and loads more torque that you find you won’t be needing the pedal as much

Does anybody know if it can be removed by the dealer? New150 bhp T6.1 and I'm hating all the "driver aids". Why should my van try to stop me from accelerating when I want to? Worst is the auto braking feature, the city driving and the low speed manoeuvring have both banged the brakes on hard for no reason within a month of getting the van. Turned the manoeuvring off but when I do it to the other I get a permanent warning sign on the dash as though the oil has suddenly poured out of the block- I presume this could be removed? Worst is the s**t hill start assist which works unless its a full moon with an r in the day - then it will roll back without warning into the car behind - was this put in specially to keep body shops in business? All they needed to do was put a nice bold indicator on the dash that it was (or was not) engaged. But i never had a problem using the handbrake anyway.

I used to wonder why I needed a red light on the dash to tell me the handbrake is on, seems it‘s got worse then.

Hi all, sorry to bash right into this subject without saying hello at first

The notch under your pedal is for a couple of things actually
In a manual and automatic it's both for not achieving 100% throttle
In the automatic version it has a 2 more features
Giving the gearbox the command to go to the lowest gear available meaning kickdown

But also disable any brake features fully

However I tried myself and the throttle in my T6 is almost 98% open (well not open but engaged) when my pedal is on the notch...

Its a little bit strange those other 2 are not applied because is a matter of some HP
And also I still think that high revving diesel engines underperform than sticking into the optimal power a range... Stil I think kickdown is a feature that gives you less....
Not for your ears because you think you are hitting it
