HI All, wonder if any of you techies can help me with a query please, i have a 70aH AGM leisure battery fitted to my Kombi and an Outwell fridge which can run off the 12v supply, i am going away without hookup for a few days and wonder if the leisure battery will be man enough to run the fridge for 3 days, i have solar panel set up (can't confirm capacity i am afraid) which will bemused to top up the battery through he day but with this heat currently, wonder if the battery will be good enough?? hope someone can provide some insight, many thanks in anticipation

Looks like a thermo electric one which draws a constant 5a or so. Very inefficient and don't cool well but will be OK if you're on a hookup with a 12v charger. Not on hookup and you're in trouble.

i think a bemused solar panel will struggle with this coolbox :)

Thanks Rover220 thats what i thought, looking a some of the threads looks like running the box off an inverter could be better, but i think the fridge needs to changed to have any chance when not on hook up?

You need a compressor fridge, it may last 2 days with the battery you have.
It could last indefinitely if your solar supply is good enough , and the sun is out.

70ah, dont forget to half that figure for useful life. So 35ah
At use of 5amps per hour 7hrs max.

as above thats a thermoelectric cooler . . . so will draw power continuously.

and drawing about 4ish amps its not going to last a weekend.

100w solsr will give you around 6A charge (ISC)

so depending on the sun and how much solar you have.

either take a second battery with you to swap out when the first one is flat. . . . .

or get a compressor fridge. . .
