Lift options

Ahh, unladen weight includes a 90% full tank (70kg) and 75kg for the driver. So 150kg included in the unladen weight, which makes my van around 2500kg with me and fuel, if my 200kg of added extras is correct. Yours is more like 300kg though as you say.

I've got a few (privately run) public weighbridges around me, some are open on Saturday mornings. Can you pay for a dvsa weighbridge? I know you can get a free visit if you get pulled when it's suspected you're overweight

Before I had my up-plating ceremony performed on my poverty line T28 a while ago, I visited a local country to me which the locals call Willenhall, and paid £12 for the pleasure of a proper weigh in.
2440kg was the given figure for the van with full conversion, but only about a half of the camping gear installed.
With the wife, the dog and the me, half a tank of fuel and three bikes a gas bottle, I thought I would just be safer to have an up-plating to T31 status. I now have legal compliance to bring back an extra 300kg of wine and beer from our travels.

What is up plating?
Turning a T28 into a T31 just by magically transferring £276 into someone else's bank account. SV Tech, or Van Weight Engineering are two companies that deal with up-plating, and have websites that explain the ins and outs. Worth doing if you are concerned about being legal with regard to the potential (over)weight of your van.
