Lightning Leisure Awning Rail For Vw Oem Roof Rails

The rubber washer goes under the awning rail to preserve the original seal. I think i then put a metal washer, then the awning rail, then another metal washer and then tightened it all down with a loctite nut. Then the roof rails sit over the threaded bar that is sticking up with a washer and a loctite nut to tighten the rails down. I would have a look at the van for you to make sure but its away having a Caravelle floor fitted at the minute, hopefully back this weekend if you still need me to have a look for you.

Thank you...all much appreciated.

Sorry, another question. On SWB the Roof Rails have 3 bolt fixings with sponge rubber washers that stick to the roof before fitting the Roof Rails. I assume that the awning rail would be positioned on top of these sponge rubber washers and then the Roof Rails with their Spacers fix on top of the awning rail, but what do people do about the 4th hole which is used by the awning rail but not the Roof Rails? Find another washer or ?

Remove the bolts.
Silicone around the sponge washers including the unused (for rails) hole. Don't be tight, use plenty.
Fit awning rail.
Silicone around all 4 holes.
Refit unused (for rails) bolt loosely.
Fit roof rails.
Tighten everything up.

Didn't bother finding/ordering another washer. Silicone provides a good enough seal between the roof and rail.

Fitted in early 2020 and has survived Ciara and Dennis with no leaks.

Thank you. Waiting for some dry weather to get started on this job!
