hi all I've been suggested to come here from another user! so hello!

im looking at buying a T6 2017 101bhp LWB. i will be using it has a half conversion with still space to use as a van what would your thoughts be?

are they reliable?

the on eim looking at has 128k on the clock and what would/should i look out for when buying? and anything that would be recommended to be changed/maintained at this mileage and the upcoming?

Greetings my friend. If you're an AAmor RAC member it's worth the shekels to have it professionally inspected.

Not sure there is a good answer to this, it is about 8 years old and used. We've had our 2017 T6 150 SWB Highline (converted to a camper) for nearly 4 years, now has 120k on the clock. Aside from the recommended servicing items, which included the belt etc, we've had a split EGR pipe, a broken rear spring, failed alternator belt pulley bearings and a worn through wire and failed transducer in the engine bay. However, the point is that you could get a list of many things as there are a lot of T6s out there and some are going to have issues, some more than others.

The advice to have it checked is sound. Also try to find out the history of the vehicle including its service history. The latter is not always recorded though.

We took a bit of a gamble with ours, it was an ex-hire van with badly documented service record and according to the MOT and docs we could see it had done just under 70k miles in its first couple of years, then hardly anything due to covid and while the converter had it.

It has certainly been a money pit, but mostly for non-necessities! Upgraded suspension, headlights, remap, alloys, and don't get me started on the tinkering with the camper side of things. Be prepared :)

My view is it is worth it, it is my daily drive/work vehicle as well and I enjoy it.

If you are thinking of putting a bed in it with split use between day van/ occasional camper / 'workhorse', have a good think about a floor/bed with sliding rails. Great versatility in the van, but an expensive retrofit, by experience....
